Dear Yondermans Cafe, Wardlow Mires, when many years ago I lived in Tideswell and the petrol station was open you were the absolute best and cheapest cafe for bikers, truckers, locals and tourists. In the many years since under various owners I have supported you, however, this new regime seems to be charging people Michelin Star prices for what's now at best Morrisons quality food. We Bikers, that is the people I know and ride with, along with others from all over Derbyshire and other areas are it seems feeling a tad ripped off. Granted the cost of living has gone up, we are all aware of that, but that does not mean you should be profiteering from what feels like your extrorting your once very loyal customers. Surely the companies that will survive are the ones that show that they value and support their customers in the same way we have supported the Yondermans over the years? If you wish to become a restaurant then feel free, but do not expect the turnover this summer you have had in previous years, ask Derbyshire Dale's Council, when we as a group put our mind to it we bring about change, and yes when we feel taken advantage of, we are quite capable of a mass boycott. Currently Monyash, Grindleford, Hartington and Flag cafe's are far more appealing to us. It truly is such a shame. You could ensure our loyalty for many years to come, or you could have a few weeks or couple of months profiteering at best then find very lean times to...
Read moreThe day was wet and gloomy so for want of something to do, I drove to the Yondermann. Once there, I noted the front parking area for large vehicles such as my own. There's another car park to the left with a height barrier that's intended for cars. As the building can only accessed via the front steps it wouldn't be possible for anyone with mobility problems to access this cafe. I decided that I would order breakfast and a tea. After adjusting my order slightly I was presented with a very nice breakfast that consisted of two very tasty eggs, two rashers of thick cut real bacon two nicely flavoured thin sausages two excellent hash browns and some tinned tomatoes which I prefer to the traditional half of a tomato. And a mug of proper tea. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable and the cafe is more like a canteen than a traditional cafe, but these are minor points. The food was properly seasoned and cooked to perfection. This is an ideal place to stop for breakfast if you're working in the area or just passing through. Breakfast is served until closing...
Read moreThe noisiest cafe in the world, why do people shout when talking, normal talking is all, everyone is competing to be heard, I heard one guys conversation 3 tables away, he never shut up, it's not necessary to shout. The sausages are smaller than they were, the bacon dry and tough, good eggs tho, toast a bit rubbery, tea like maz watter as we say in sheff, the service was brill, quick and smiley, do outstanding cakes, 2 stars is for my breakfast, the big double breki looks a challenge, I'd give 10 stars for cakes. Maybe is was just too busy to get it all right, staff are friendly even under pressure, oh, and get rid of the gravel in the car park, it's offers zero trip, it's very dangerous for bikers, it could be swept up, don't get it. Next time I'll go...
