Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Doncaster

Really helpful / friendly staff today 06/12/24, thank you for humouring me.

Made me chuckle though. I took my decaf flat white back because it was WAY too big and milky - they always are when I go to Costa (very rarely) but I decided to do something about it for once - and so after a discussion about what a flat white is, I was informed what I actually wanted was a cortado! So guess what, all these independent coffee shops up and down the country must have been getting it wrong all this time! 😂😂

What’s even funnier is that in the confusion I forgot to check that the replacement needed to be decaf, so I’m sitting here at 2AM after getting super-high on caffeine, then hyper-focussing on the topic of coffee sizes and milk:espresso ratios for the last 2hours 😂

The silver lining to this terrible idea is that I can now rest my twitchy eyes in the knowledge that Costa are indeed VMB (Very Milky Bastards) and should absolutely stop mis-selling flat...

Shockingly poor customer service. Awful attitude from staff, who made you feel like an inconvenience by just being there, let alone trying to buy a drink. Request to use own reusable cup was met with a loud huff. Server had her unwashed hands inside the cups for no reason. Drinks just plonked on the side.

As an aside, unlike other coffee retailers Costa don't advertise the use of reusable cups, or offer a small reduction for doing so. I will be bearing this in mind when choosing where to buy coffee in future.

In any event, this Costa is one I will avoid...

Great place for a pit stop just off the M18 on the outskirts of Doncaster. Good forecourt selection of shops for quality and healthy supermarket foods, stationery, and caffeine drinks. Ice cream and fast food also available for hungry patrons Car parking plentiful and often used as drop off/pick up point for holiday makers going to/returning from Lincolnshire and Yorkshire...
