Edit Again. Theyve screwed it up AGAIN. 1 star food hygeine now and resorted to Pataks AGAIN. Wont order again. Instead, if you're happy to collect, go to Madras in Norton. Its run by Jay, the chef at Masala 10 years ago. He even remembered my name and street when I asked for it with extra garlic and ginger. Eating that was like going back in time.
Edit, the guys have turned this place around in the last 18 months and I would recommend again and have been using regularly. Iāve also had numerous conversations along the way with the new owner. They are now backto being the best in Doncaster. For reference, hereās what I wrote after they had taken over.
āSorry guys. When you took over masala a few months back I was impressed. You went back to doing things Jay style (Jay was head chef at masala 7 years back) and I was happy that youād rescued masala.
Unfortunately that didnāt last long. My last three orders have been very Pataks which I can buy in the supermarket. To add to the misery, todays order has what I thought was glass in it (turned out to be a molten sugar cube). Iād eaten hardly any before discovering it nearly breaking my tooth. Who knows how many more there are as I havenāt eaten any more.
Iāve commented on masala for a lot of years, giving high praise where it was due and letting masala know when they were getting it wrong. Ask old Abdul or Jay (you know them).
Some of your recent Google comments have been good and itās no surprise because when you took over it was good but anyone thinking of trying them now, donāt be fooled the older photos, they are nothing like what Iāve received lately.
One comment is that the reviewer had eaten all over the world and that yours was the best. That was true for me at one time (Jay time) and a comment I left before old masala struggled recently.
Itās up to you guys to turn it around but if you donāt, check back on these comments in 12 months when you are wondering why itās failing. This is Doncaster. Ā£15 for a curry, rice and naan isnāt cheap. Especially if itās no better than my non Indian missus can make at home. The people will vote with...

We sat down and there was a very dirty table cloth like someone had used it as a napkin to wipe the curry from their faces, we then ordered our starters as it was brought to the tables the waiter knocked our drink, after stood there and looked at the puddle of dr pepper In middle of table he then went and replaced it free of charge but left the puddle to soak into the already stained table cloth. We then ate our food we was waiting on someone to come give us the bill I notice that they had a curry house pet that had made himself at home above the door. No one had still been over with bill after 15 minutes so we got up and asked for it and they wasnt rushed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolute waste of time, been waiting for almost 2 hours. Rang up and was told the driver is "on the way" and still half an hour later, no food. If you actually want anything to eat, don't order from here. When the food finally arrived, I don't think I can even fathom the words to describe just how bad it actually was. The korma was like WATER, and literally just taste of sugar, the chicken tikka wasnt as bad, but the naans were diabolical. They were like flattened burned Yorkshire puddings. I'm not trying to sound like Gordon Ramsay, but chuffing hell, just don't...
