FIRST MORNING (Thursday) went in for breakfast and was put on a table that had crumbs on it and beer rings (obviously from the night before). No cereals, juice, yoghurts or jam. Ordered full English, which was reasonable, but as soon as it was served the 'cook' came to say he had to rush off to a doctor's appointment and left. We left restaurant and there was a dead mouse on path. SECOND MORNING (Friday) dead mouse still there. I told 'cook' about mouse and he said 'shows how observant I am'. I queried about cereals etc.. and his excuse was that he forgot. He then asked if we wanted cereals and brought out a few individual boxes. When he brought our breakfasts he said that he had run out of beans (no substitute). We asked for brown sauce and were presented with a small amount - enough for one breakfast. There were marmalades together with one apricot and one strawberry jam. I took the apricot jam because I don't like marmalade or strawberry jam. THIRD MORNING (Saturday) mouse still there. When we went into the restaurant there were a few cereals on counter but only one of the sort we like. Guess what - he had run out!! There was a mountain of marmalade but only the one strawberry jam left. I asked if there was any apricot and was told that he had run out (sound familiar??). He brought our breakfast, my egg was runny and guess what - he had run out of brown sauce so did we want red. FOURTH MORNING (Sunday) mouse had gone!!! Still no beans, cereal, brown sauce or jam. When breakfast came my egg had a really lovely black frill around it!!! Needless to say we will not be staying at The Sportsman...

Read moreWe booked through toprooms ( don't ever use them). We booked five nights bed and breakfast, when we arrived we were informed that they 'don't do breakfast through the week'. Maybe they should check their website? We paid up front (?!) room seemed pleasant. The beds were lumpy. light bulbs blown. Dresser dirty. Shower mouldy. Cleaning left much to be desired. I bought anti bac wipes. We had old threadbare towels. Got them changed once because we asked! They never went near the room! When we questioned it we were told the cleaner was there at 11. We were in the room. Yes. For two of the five days!!! The owners sons have really loud boy racer cars and come through the car park 30 foot from the rooms at all times of night. The food was not awful. But we only ate the first night then had sandwiches instead. The owner hasn't long taken over, my advice to him is the customer service needs addressing. The room cleanliness needs checking. Sort out your adverts so they tell the truth about services. You are not doing customers or yourself favours with your attitude. The rooms are not cheap compared to the surrounding area as you tried to make out. Get your act together or you...
