I've been a big fan of the Harvester for as far back as I can remember, despite the contantly yo-yoing standards I've experienced over the past several years. In particular I've used the Foxhunt on many occasions as it's fairly local to me. But I'll resolutely never eat at There again, or any Harvester for that matter. Why? Regardless of the empty salad bowls at the salad cart, the lack of sauces, the stale bread, and for the first time ever my wife being unable to eat her salad because in her words it was drier than sand (it wasn't even busy in there), it is because I've never been treated with such disrespect in all my life.
I ordered the original combo, leavingt my chicken until last to eat. As I cut into it near the wing there was blood along the bone. I wish I'd taken a photo of the chicken now to highlight just how bloody it was when I cut into it but it was never my intention to make a fuss, splash it across social media, and the waitress whipped the plate away as quickly as possible.
Then Emma the waitress just left us sat at the table. There was no apology from her when I showed her the blood in the chicken, there was no apology from her when I eventually flagged her down so I could pay the bill, and there was certainly no apology from a duty Manager.
When she came back with the card machine, she would only look at my wife and refused to acknowledge me until I presented my card to the machine and then she looked at me with a sneer, as if it was some elaborate ploy to avoid paying the bill.
She's obviously assumed that I'd smuggled an identical piece of chicken into the restaurant but undercooked, or I've bought in a syringe of blood and injected it into the meat. The blood was there for all to see. I even told her discreetly, without any fuss, and without directing any malice or ill intent towards her. A courtesy I'm sure many other customers in my position wouldn't have paid her.
In fact there were four ladies on the table next to me who were less than happy with their taco's, left them all, complained heavily, then left.
I complained to head office and received an email from "The Foxhunt management team" offering a half hearted apology, an excuse for all terrible sevice we'd experienced that night, and that I was mistaken about the blood. Apparantly it wasn't blood in the chicken but a bit of redness on the bone. What a load of rubbish! I've eaten plenty of chicken off the bone with that redness they were describing, it's always a dull red that's just the colour of the bone. This was bright red and liquid. It was blood simple as. That chicken would have made me quite ill if I'd consumed it
If you want a restaurant with mediocre food, poor service, and staff that treat paying customers with utter contempt, then this is your go to place, otherwise...
Read moreOn the few occasions we have come here everytime is an awful experience. We keep saying we’ll give it another chance but that won’t happen again. We came on a Thursday on a rare day off straight from the school run and there were very few tables in. The salad bar is always empty, bread rolls always empty, no croutons and no onions.. with it being so dead you’d think this would be kept on top of.
The same waitress we’ve had previously was on and again was awful. Waiting for 30 mins+ after we finish to clear plates… she seems to just stand at the kitchen pass waiting for food when other jobs could be done like clearing plates and taking pudding orders… if it wasn’t included in our sons meal then we really wouldn’t have bothered. No additional drinks were offered and again waiting ages to get said waitress… standing there having a chit chat… honestly impossible. Same thing over and over again and with every passing minute you get more frustrated…. Tracked her down to raise these issues such as getting more bread and issues with our orders and she just continues her conversation and you’re waiting a further 10 mins… in the end my 9 year old son went and asked the chefs directly for more bread. Which they bought out almost immediately. It’s just not good enough. Your servers seriously need re training… surely this is not a good look for the M&B brand… your RBM needs to review all of the negative google reviews and take action….
Now on to food… mostly all of the food was okay HOWEVER the ribs which cost around £21 came bare… with no sauce. My husband has had the ribs many times so we know they come with some sort of glaze but today they were plain.. I asked said waitress and she swore blind they had sauce on them which we know they didn’t. She also lied to us last time we came about her coming back to check if the meals were okay. When you’re spending a substantial amount of money you at least expect a half decent experience but it is never the case here and you walk out feeling robbed (even with our discount).
I hope you read this review and instead of getting salty do something to improve. You’re letting the...
Read moreWe had 3 autistic family members with us 8yr, 14yr and 22yr. We were asked if we would like a drink .. 12 refills .. doesn’t take much to grab empty glasses, I had to Chase the glasses after 20min waiting. I had to keep asking the waitress if we could order after 35min waiting, our autistic members were getting upset as they couldn’t go to the salad bar until we ordered and received a dish. We also had another 4 children under 10yr with us, my dad has terminal cancer so didn’t want a drawn out meal out. It then took 1hr 25min for our food to arrive. 2 of which were the wrong meals but I wasn’t prepared to wait even longer for the correct meal to be cooked. One was for one of our autistic guests so waiting longer was not an option. Meals were disappointing , fish was dry and like the sole of your show, 2 burgers not cooked properly and weren’t eaten. Bacon on one meal was pure fat. Some chips were over cooked to the point they were crisps. After 20 min of us all finishing, the plates were still on the table, I had to ask for it to be cleared. Only half was taken away, the rest was left on the table until we left. Dessert was ordered after another 30 min waiting to order and me having to ask. The place was so loud, 2 tables with drunk parents and young children, drama with a man having a drink thrown over him. The whole experience was shocking. 2 autistic guests left in tears. This was for my sons 14th birthday who is one of the autistic guests .. never again. He was so upset when we got home. No excuse for lack of customer service, taking so long when you have 2/3 staff standing at the till. Very...
