Plenty of car parking space. Outside looking warm and attractive. Inside very worn and tatty. Bench seats have holes in them. Tables are old and sticky. Toilets falling apart. Very basic food menu. The food is prepared quite well and is tasty. Only one real ale on tap when we visited. Staff are helpful and friendly. Popular venue for the locals but they deserve much better than this. Shame on you Greene King, you're making millions, get this place brought up...

I used to frequent the Gun Room as it was, back in the late 70's and 80's on Friday and Saturday night. The present manager - sorry if I've got that wrong - is a friendly type and he told me of all the changes that the R&C has undergone over the years. Not the best time of day to review a pub admittedly, but it was good to see it again....

There's a special deal at lunchtime on a choice of meals and I have to say that I was impressed by the menu and the quality of the food except for one thing; the bread and butter pudding was disappointing!! I make a much better version myself. The dining room is very light with plenty of windows looking out onto the car park area. Friendly staff. A pleasant place to meet up...
