Initial visit to this quirky, lovely little tea room was about 3 weeks ago. We were a party of 5, 4 adults and 1 child (9years old) we reserved a table giving approximately 30 minutes notice. On arrival the table was already dressed for our visit and was beautiful. The afternoon tea was delicious and plentiful, we were given take-away boxes as just couldnāt eat everything. Service was excellent but never intrusive. Staff member Kirstie even took photographs or us all at the table then of my Neice wearing the āMad Hattersā hat. Nothing was too much trouble, even though the shop closed at 4pm, our visit exceeded this but we were not rushed to leave.
I also visited again today with my granddaughter (6years old) who loved the āAlice in Wonderlandā theme and was mesmerised how the table, suitcase etc was on the ceiling. Service was exceptional, food was delicious and again take-away boxes were also required. On both visits the little ones were made to feel special and had their own tea-pots, milk jugs etc.
Thank you Mad Hatters for being such a lovely, friendly, happy place for families to enjoy amazing, freshly prepared food in a lovely themed environment. I could not recommend this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately it was a cold and miserable day when we went for afternoon tea and the sight of loads of condensation on the windows made it worse. There was no heating on so I found the atmosphere not very welcoming. Saying that, the Yorkshire tea was very welcoming but I found that was the best bit of the afternoon tea š The sandwiches were fresh but very ordinary, mainly cheese and ham although the salad was good and the presentation nice. The cakes were ok, nothing to shout about, the scones were plain but tasted good BUT, the cream was WHIPPED cream!!!! It was double whipped cream but nooooo, it has to be CLOTTED cream for an afternoon tea. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement! I'm sorry but that spoilt everything for me so the price charged of Ā£14 per person was overpriced for what I had. I have had a much better quality afternoon tea at Oopsy Daisys in Merry Hill which included non acholic wine AND a gift for about the same price. Sorry, but won't be going again. The...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWarm welcome Really fun filled place. Very quirky. Mismatched china plates and cups which we loved. Quite busy on arrival but we had booked ahead. Regulars were also there which is always a good sign. Very relaxed atmosphere. Nice to have our teapot refilled whenever we asked. Lady who served us checked we were ok but wasnt intrusive. Sandwiches were very fresh and of a good assortment. You have a choice of a slice of cake but then there is also a scone and then 2 smaller slices of cake. My friend and I were pleasantly surprised with our whole experience. Good value, lovely and fresh. We will definitely be returning. Another customer was booking in for Sunday Lunch which sounded very appetising. Parking isnt perfect but thats not the venues fault. We parked a few streets away and then walked further into the centre of the village. It was a nice stroll to walk off...
