Updated April 2024. So this time we were on our way home so stopped on for lunch. My oh my so many people! Hugely popular, unsurprisingly, with a fab range of pizzas and ice creams as well as a collection of other goodies. Car parking tight so patience might be needed to get a space. Toilets still very clean; very toddler friendly; normal dogs stay outside. No power points so not a place to moor and work. Fabulous friendly staff

Originally Easter 2023. It was open at 0900, which meant it was the logical stop having left the house at 0630. The otter breakfast looked amazing, and was (ahem) otterly brilliant. Butter perched on top of hot crispy toast so it was ready to spread, yummy sausage, yummy bacon, fab mushrooms and diced potatoes (loving the herbs), great view, fun people. Although we were tempted by the ice cream (sea buckthorn looked interesting), it would have made driving the last 90 minutes a bit tricky so - again - somewhere to investigate to a greater depth; but what we saw we liked. Toilets are outside in a separate building! they are clean, smell nice, and pleasant. Parking is good, and there is some space for a 'comfort' dog walk but perhaps not a proper one. Note that, unless they are a guide dog, your canine pal is not allowed inside the restaurant. There is a shelter outside but it's a little exposed to the elements so wrap up warm or leave...

We recently discovered Otter Valley Ice Cream & Field Kitchen on our way back from Cornwall and we quickly fell in love with this place! The pizza here is simply amazing—honestly, it’s one of the best pizza we’ve ever eaten. They use their own dough and each bite is a delight and leaves you craving more.

After pizza, we obviously couldn’t leave without trying their famous ice cream! OMG! The ice cream and sorbet are simply delicious and it’s made right on site, which makes it even more special. The variety of flavours and the creamy texture are just perfect.

The staff members are absolutely wonderful and make the experience even better. A special shoutout to Claire, who manages this place with such warmth and efficiency.

The view from the restaurant is amazing and deserves a separate mention, making the experience even better.

Overall, the Otter Valley Ice Cream & Field Kitchen is a hidden gem!!! Now, when we are planning our journey to or from Cornwall, we make sure to include a visit to Otter Valley. Highly recommend stopping by—you won’t be disappointed! P.S. Ahaha, we realised that we didn’t take photos of the pizzas and ice cream because we started eating them straight away, but...

Beautiful setting and very good quality food, have been several times and the breakfast, pizza and ice creams are all delicious.

The negative of Otter Valley is the fact that when you eat outside (which we always do as we have dogs) the breakfast is in a cardboard container with cardboard cutlery. This in itself changes the experience as it is very difficult to eat breakfast with this cutlery, my fork has snapped most times and eating just becomes less enjoyable.

I understand this is due to staff shortages that the food is served in this way. If this really can't be helped, surely the pricing should be reflected? Last week I paid £60 for 3 x breakfasts & drinks, which I had to go in to order, go in to collect, and then resorted to getting cutlery from the campervan to eat it with. If the pricing was cheaper to eat outside maybe this wouldn't feel like such a letdown. Also, it is extremely wasteful as none of this can be recycled after use.

Going out to eat is supposed to be relaxing and a treat, and I think that part is missed by this approach. A shame as the food and views are...

A perfect place to stop while travelling to and from Devon and Cornwall. If you want to avoid the hideous motorway service stations and junk food outlets, this is the ideal place to visit. It is spacious, clean and friendly. Fabulous food including freshly made sandwiches, handmade pizzas, heathy salads, coffees and drinks. They also specialise in delicious gelato ice creams. There is something for everyone here. The site is fully accessible for people with mobility issues with ramps etc. Good toilet facilities. The best thing of all is that there is plenty of green open space to sit outside with benches and seats. Perfect for families to let children have a little run around. And a wonderful view of the beautiful Devon countryside. It doesn’t get any better than this. Thanks for providing such a great facility.
