Spice & Stone — Restaurant in East Devon

Spice and stone is by far the finest curry I have ever had and nothing comes close to it!

The family are lovely and Khan’s specialties are so exceptional with depth of flavour and spice, you can taste it has been made using authentic basting step by step every dish and clearly made with love and wanting to be as delicious as possible time after time.

Spice is always using natural chillis which I can never decide on my favourite but Zak is excellent at helping me decide on trying something new.

Chicken Karahi is a number one for me but chicken maska which was recommended to try is now making life difficult on what to have. I have not had anything I haven’t liked and look forward to keep trying more and more.

We try to go once a month eat in with close friends as relaxing in the restaurant is my all time happy place to be. Never in a rush, never concerned about time just sit down and enjoy the environment and service being waited on whilst catching up with friends.

Nothing in or around Exeter comes close this it’s the best curry you will ever eat!

I love to go and collect when ever feasible and share a cobra and chat and last collection was to introduce to my friends in the village.

Everybody agrees it is stunning!

I wish i had read the reviews sooner. When we walked in we were shooed to a table in the middle of the room despite us calling up and asking for a corner table. I have problems eating in the middle of a room. The young member of staff had an attitude problem. We felt rushed and was asked twice before I even made up my mind if we were ready. Now I dont take long but when someone is rushing you its hard to make up your mind. I felt intimidated. When I made my choice he muttered something in a foreign language that I couldn't understand. The whole experience was distressing and I felt an inconvenience to be there. The food was bland and the curry was watery and hardly any meat never mind the price. This is no way to treat a customer that wanted the night to be a special night with their partner. Definitely won't be going back. Stay clear unless u want to...

The food is great and is the only reason I would give the place 2 stars. The service is down right rude. The previous owners/managers really made you feel like your custom was welcome. The new owners are completely nonchalant and don’t seem to care. It’s been like this for the last few years. The only reason I kept coming back was because of the quality of the food but after having to repeat every order over and over on the phone, then being told that I would not be able to pick up at a later time just personifies the contempt that customers, including regulars like myself are treated. The place is cash only in case you don’t mind putting your business with people that don’t care. I for one have had enough and won’t be back. I know many friends feel the same…keep service as it is and Spice n Stone will be out of business...
