Read moreI’m usually one to go online to give positive reviews… but I’m annoyed this evening.
Currently holidaying in Devon. Met up with a friend from Devon, at the Saddlers Inn.
We faintly heard a bell at 9:30. We were confused and wondered if that was finally call or not. Looked online and saw that the pub shuts at 11, so thought it must be something else.
However, at 9:50 I heard the lady behind the till quite clearly saying “come on ladies, it’s time to go, the bell’s rung, we’re shutting”. When I spoke to her and said we were unaware and the website says 11pm she claimed to have been counting money. I told her what I heard and she said she didn’t say it, but that they shut at 10 on a Monday. I showed her the google page of times. I said all she had to do was kindly ask if we knew they were shutting. She continued to claim she was just counting money and didn’t say what I heard. So rude. We left promptly. I am angry. Wouldn’t have taken much to pop over and kindly explain that...
Read moreWe regularly visit this establishment for their outstanding carvery that is very good value at £12.95 with a reduction for over 55's.
The Saddlers is always exceptionally clean and tidy, very Covid friendly and the bar and table staff attentive and polite.
Our visit this evening 14 January was no exception and we thoroughly enjoyed the carvery that was up to its usual consistently good standard. With a wide choice of freshly cooked meats and now a choice of nine vegetable dishes plus gravy and sauces, it will take some beating.
Worthy of mention this evening were the very efficient waitresses and particularly the very polite young man serving the carvery, who came to ours and other tables to ensure we were happy with our meal. A very nice touch.
So, all in all, another great experience, well worth a 5 star and we are looking forward to...
