Went for evening meal as part of our holiday days out at the White Hart. Lady at the bar very friendly (thanks for putting up with my husbands sense of humour) but rushed off her feet as she seemed to be the only person on duty other than the cook. We all ordered starters and mains - thought whitebait with salad garnish including grapes was a strange combination but hey - and a mains that included mashed potatoes. I was expecting a nice creamy mash but these seemed to be crushed new potatoes. Perfectly acceptable just not expected. Smoked haddock was not fresh and could have done with some kind of sauce, made the rest of the plate rather dry. Liver and bacon was delicious. Dirty cutlery was dealt with efficiently by staff. Pub interior was a bit tired, sticky carpet in the bar could do with replacing but pub in a popular position next to a caravan site so quite busy. Pub atmosphere was not to my taste so personally I would not revisit.

Stopped here for lunch. Friendly staff, good light lunch menu. Nice little outside area to sit on a sunny day. Took the dog for a lovely walk along the river at the suggestion of the bar staff.

Phoned up previous to our visit about a peanut allergy. There was only 1 vegetarian option as a basket meal of breaded mushrooms. Went to the bar asked about the veggie options and she had no idea. Disappointed. She went in the kitchen to find out. She came back with a veggie Kiev or a veggie burger. I asked about peanuts on those options. Her reply was "I think the veggie burger is just vegetables" (she had no idea about my allergy and wasn't prepared. So whoever we spoke to on the phone hadn't passed the information on.) We asked Is there an ingredients list. So she went back to the kitchen and she checked on peanuts on the burger. Came back and said I could have that. So I ordered that. 3 meals came out first. 2 waited about 5 to 10 minutes for the other meals. 1 came severely under cooked. Sent back to cook it properly. Overall quite a bad...

Absolutely shocking service, hygiene, food. We booked a table based on the menu, turned up, ordered an had to pay for food at the bar before we got it, it was a reduced menu so we chose something else and sat down, 2 minutes later sorry we haven't got that, so we ordered again, same happened again, so now we ordered stuff they did hav but we didn't really want but were starving, so now we are savage, sat there watching tables of people come n go, people sitting at uncleaned tables etc, an hour later my partner had a moan about where was our ham egg an chips??!!, suddenly it came out, cold eggs an peas etc. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DRIVE STRAIGHT...
