Visited here on Mother's day with a table booked for 4.30pm. It was quite busy on arrival but we were shown to our table promptly. Waited 10 mins for drinks order to be taken and then sat patiently waiting to order food. Server busied herself clearing nearby tables with no eye contact at all so eventually I asked whether she could take our food order. I ordered the roast chicken dinner which I can only describe as very disappointing and certainly not worth the £16 price tag. The chicken portion (think it was a very small leg) was covered over with a piece of bacon and was completely bone dry and very chewy. Usually with chicken you would expect stuffing as an accompliment but that was not included in the meal. The roast potatoes had clearly been left standing for a very long time and totally devoid of any flavour or crispness and extermely soft and luke warm. Veg was a mixture, sparse in content and came out very hot as though straight from the microwave. Yorkshire pudding was a small frozen variety and the gravy weak and barely hot. I left most of the chicken and the potatoes. This was hardly a Mother's day treat! My young Grandson had the burger and complained he had something strange and chewy tasting in his mouth We quickly got him to spit it out to find a piece of cellophane wrapping. This could have had serious chocking consequences if he had tried to swallow it and we had not acted so promptly. Not a nice experience for an 8 year old child. We made the owner aware of this and he apologised and at least it was taken off the bill. All in all not an enjoyable visit and sadly wouldn't recommend and won't...
Read moreDecided to have an early evening meal out after looking at property and the White Horse looked a nice easy place to pull into and park. The car park was good with plenty of spaces and had access to the outside play and eating area for those with children who needed a bit of freedom after being cooped up in a car. Easy access to the bar and restaurant down some steps. Once inside found it to be clean and tidy if not a little dark (this was a late afternoon on a summers day!) The staff were inviting and helpful (we were eventually served by 4 separate members of staff all of whom were nice). The choice of dishes were enough to satisfy and speed of service was good. A cod mornay and pork fillet were of decent size and tasty, but the vegetables were very mediocre - the broccoli was at best al dente whilst the carrots were thin dry and tasteless; which rather spoilt an otherwise ok meal. Drinks were average whilst prices were a little steep: but it was the summer and with lots of holiday traffic I suppose only to be expected. Would we go back: I think not, but only because of poor vegetables and above...
Read moreI have just left the white Horse Inn @ Woodbury and I am sorry to say that I shall never visit there again. The young lady that greeted us was very pleasant as was the young lady that served us. My wife chose the scampi and chips and in all fairness enjoyed her meal. I chose the Lasagna, what a mistake. The texture was unpleasant and had a powdery "mouth" to it, the lasagna had no discernible taste, Not tomatoes, meat or cheese and to be honest I thought it had either been in the freezer too long or had defrosted and been refrozen. I left most of it and I did explain to the young lady who said she would tell the chef. I was surprised that it was still on the bill when I came to pay it. The beer (Tribute) was fine. If an otherwise happy customer returns over 3/4 of a meal than it must be immediately obvious that something is very wrong with it, this was not a case of "I did not like what I ordered" this was a case of it was...
