An interesting addition to Bordon which originally seemed like a brilliant idea. However, the shed has strayed from its original purpose and is not a particularly positive experience. Originally sold as an area for many small and local businesses to trade, it has become more of a monopoly for one company which has managed to afford the huge rent costs. Businesses seem to suffer very quickly at the shed. Parking is extortionate and confusing and puts many people off. Food is good with a nice variety, but with very high costs. This would be reasonable perhaps for the high quality food if there were a nice dining experience but the shed is simply a food hall. Generally noisy, cramped, with uncomfortable and tacky seating. It is good to be able to get a variety of food from different places for groups but not worth the cost on top of parking. One good aspect is the frequent live music and outdoor seating, but again only worth while if you are in a position to walk and have a large...
Read moreEx Army town Bordon has come a long way since the Army moved out, new houses and developments being built and places like The Shed popping up next to the new leisure centre. Signage from the road is pants and takes you a very long way round when it can be accessed a lot easier from the road cutting through the town. Free parking for one hour was enough for us to look around . There is mainly food outlets (burgers/spuds/Mexican/Italian) The Tap pub and couple of gift shops, some sort of stage that hosts comedy nights, area out back for the market stalls, Toilets, nice area outside to eat. We settled on the spuds (about £6 each) and although a bit slow to serve we were very happy with what we got. Crispy spuds (from spud oven) with well seasoned skins, generous fillings and small but nicely dressed side salad - spud u like? Yes indeed 👍Worth a visit and you could then pop up to the Chocolate Frog 🐸...
Read moreA fantastic idea and a great asset for the local area - a good mix of outlets and friendly staff in the ones I used.
The interior design is a little disappointing as it feels a bit like a 1970s market from up here in Yorkshire rather than the location of artisan resellers in the south, it's a bit clinical, a bit "formica" and cheap looking.
It feels like it needs some character injecting to make it feel less like an easy to wipe down truckers canteen and more like a homely place to grab a bit to eat and a beer or two.
The playground is a nice addition and it looks like there's other interesting things planned in the future so I hope it thrives. The parking charges might be a little off-putting to some (we walked) but perhaps this is to address a problem rather than to raise funds?
All in all a nice touch that maybe just needs some refining...
