Leafy Oak Tea Room — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

Very disappointing. We’ve been here 3 times and will not be visiting again. On the first visit, we ordered drinks and had an okay experience. On the second visit, we arrived 2 hours before closing time and was told that the kitchen closes exactly 2 hours before and so they did not take orders. On the third visit, we ordered food and was informed of a 15 minute wait. After waiting for 35 minutes we received one of the items we ordered but was told that ingredients were missing for the other food items. It’s odd that they do not serve food at the same time to a table and that they only inform you of issues after a 35 minute wait with no apology. The manager at the till eventually refunded the whole order however felt reluctant to apologise in the first place. This seems to be a common issue with ingredients - e.g serving golden syrup instead of maple syrup without mentioning this to the customer. Unfortunately, I will not be visiting...

First visit to Leafy Oak for lunch with my parents. It was very busy. The tearoom and adjoining conservatory were clean and bright. The tables were well arranged to allow ease of movement around. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The menu was small but plenty enough to choose from and there was a good selection of cakes. The soup (tomato on the day we visited) was delicious and served with a cheese toastie. The bread was great quality, the sandwiches were well filled. Food and drinks arrived quickly and were well presented. Tables were cleared quickly and quietly when customers left. A lovely lunchtime treat. I also liked the idea of coming to fill a planter/hanging basket for Mother's Day and having coffee and cake so will look out for other events through the year. Gift vouchers are available. I will definitely be back, and have time to look around the garden centre. Kovely to be able to sit outside in...

We have been coming here for a long time and always enjoy it but this time it was ok ... it wasn't over busy so that couldn't be the reason. We ordered a sausage roll and baked potato with coronation chicken and 2 coffees ... the coffees and sausage roll came straight away and were delicious ... but we waited around another 20 mins and nothing else came so I asked and they said it was coming ... another 10 by which time everything was finished and I was sat ready to go. The coronation chicken was pieces of cooked chicken with a sauce poured over the top rather than it all being mixed in ... the food was nice just a shame it took so long ... if they had forgotten the order I could understand but they hadn't so no reason for...
