The Greyhound Bengeo — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

Honestly I hate giving bad reviews, but today's experience was beyond every taste. Thai restaurant was recommended to us, and I choose it as a place for late valentines evening. .. worse mistake possible... service was good until we made complaint about main dish. My curry beef/ prawn tasted like dessert...it was so sweet I couldn't taste if I'm eating pork or prawn...honestly tasted like a dessert... but I wanted to keep it to myself until my wife complaint about sweetness of her's dish... even though she ordered something completely different. When we mentioned to the head waitress that it's uneatable as its to sweet, she asked what we want to do about it. As being nice and hate to complaint we said nothing, hoping they will assume and take of at least something of the bill ... I've end up paying over £80 for 2, including drinks... shame... they Will not see any business from myself or any of my friends ......

Big thanks to Nico, Steven and team at The Greyhound for looking after us so well last night. Carrying on our exploration of the pubs in the area us newbies to Hertford came to try out The Greyhound and the Thai Garden after meeting the landlords Adam and Karen at the White Lion where we had a fab Sunday lunch, and we weren’t disappointed. Lovely pub with great cocktails got us off to a great start and when we couldn’t resist the yummy smells coming from the kitchen any longer we went round into the lovely restaurant part and had the most amazing Thai meal. The menu is really extensive and with lots of choices (more to come back to try!) that it took us a while to choose but everything was delicious and we had a very full and happy walk home. We had to stop by the White Lion on the way to congratulate Adam and Karen on another fine establishment and tell them the team did them proud. Cant recommend highly...

Awful experience, never going back. 3 barmaids stop around rolling their eyes and sniggering at customers behind their backs the whole evening. One elderly man asked for some milk as he was suffering from stomach issues and it helped him try enjoy his meal, they wouldn’t serve him. They just laughed at the request. Another customer went to co-op to get him some so that he could stay for his meal.

They also sniggered at another customer who arrived to pick up a takeaway and was made wait over 30 mins. He started to get annoyed waiting but they just had no care or concern.

The service in the restaurant was extremely slow, waited 45 mins for the starters and they all came different times. Food was nice when it eventually arrived but wasn’t worth...
