I have been to the Jug & Bottle several times and never been disappointed. It has an extensive menu to choose from that includes a variety of burgers, delicious stone baked pizzas (my parents' favourite), calzone, to name just a fraction of it. Then there is the carvery choice and wow it is amazing. Each time I've been there has been a choice of pork, beef, turkey or gammon (you can have more than one, but I usually just have turkey!) And once you've made that choice there is a whole variety of vegetables to add to your plate, and you can have mashed potatoes + roast potatoes + chips + Yorkshire pudding with another big choice of sauces and gravy to complement your meal. If you don't fancy a hot dinner, you can choose a carvery and have the meat but have salad with it instead of hot veg & gravy, this is my favourite choice. The salad has always been fresh and a good variety of bits to choose from including your standard, tomato, cucumber & lettuce, but with coleslaw, pasta salad, couscous salad, croutons, onions, beetroot etc and if you fancy a few chips with it you are free to do so. And you are free to add chips / salad to your burger or pizza meals too. If you select the carvery option you can get your food straightaway. If anyone in your group chooses pizza or off the menu you are given an alarm that notifies you when your food is ready as it is all cooked fresh to order. We travel 90 miles to meet up with family in this pub as it is a firm favourite, catering deliciously to a huge variety of tastes. Our last visit was to celebrate my parents' Diamond Wedding Anniversary, and they allowed us to book a table for 20 people and bring our own cake. It was extremely busy that evening but even though queues built up at the bar and carvery, they moved relatively quickly. The only slight downside in my husband's eyes is that it is not a serviced restaurant and you do have to go and queue to order your food and drinks each time you want them. But even with our large groups, I've never found it an issue. If you want instant service and don't have the patience to queue then check on their website for quieter times. The staff are polite and friendly and work hard to keep everyone happy so if you do have to queue don't take it out on them, delicious freshly prepared food is worth the slight wait and it gives you time to talk! I highly recommend the...
Read moreWent for my mother's birthday meal last night, booking of 10. Arrived, ordered drinks and when the whole party arrived we ordered food. We had 2 separate orders from out table, 1 order went through fine, the other order would not go through for some reason so we asked a member of staff to go check as we had put it through on the app twice and didn't want to be charged multiple times, we told them one order had gone through from our table for starters but the order for mains wasn't, we told him it was mostly burgers etc he came back and told us it had gone through and would be a hour wait, we u him and waited a hour, the starters come out and we asked about mains, the young girl looked confused so we explained what had happened so she went to check and the order for mains hasn't gone though... we described the member of staff we had spoken before and was told our description of the him was wrong - 10 people remember him with glasses but he doesn't have glasses, so she went and got another member of staff who told us our order hadn't gone through but she would take it now, we explained we was told it had gone through and she offered a pathetic apology. Whilst my sister was putting through the order the one who told us the order had come though came to the table - he was wearing glasses! So we was all called liars for we was telling the truth ! Whilst we was still waiting for the mains the children's meal pudding came out - we explained to the girl that we hadn't even had our mains yet and sent it back to the kitchen By the time our mains came out it had been over a hour and a half and it was very disappointing, not worth the wait at all - they even got the child's meal wrong so that needed to be redone. We asked for the ice cream to be brought back out to then be given a empty bowl for ice cream when we had originally ordered the ice cream and strawberries.
We drove from Mablethorpe which is about 45mins away as we had heard good things, this place is a shambles! And needs a serious lesson in customer service. When someone goes in for a birthday meal normally the birthday girl gets made to feel special but we felt forgotten about. I have worked as a waitress most of my life and the lack of a apology disgusted the whole table. We don't expect freebies but a more sincere apology would...
