I have only been the once as I was visiting friends in the area. They seemed happy with their meals but I was somewhat disappointed with my mixed grill. The steak, though cooked 'medium rare' as is my preference, was only half edible as half was very gristly, and impossible to cut. The Gammon was overcooked, and as such was dry and tough, but was just edible. The Lamb cutlet was fine however, as were the Chips, Runner beans, Mushrooms and Onion rings. The slice of Grilled Beef Tomato was inedible as this also hard. My Whitebait starter was fine so no complaints there. I am not sure if my friends were happy as it was my treat and they may not have wanted to offend. They both had different meals each and I cannot comment on theirs. Bottom line: I may just have been unlucky, but did not feel my meal was worth the money. Pub is nice and the staff very helpful and friendly. The pub is also set in a lovely rural area. 'Hungry Horse' mixed grills are nicer, and at less than half the price. As I said. I may have just been unlucky and I am not a regular customer so this may not be indicative of their...

Firstly, your journey begins as you pull into homersfield, a quaint village. Then you're greeted to the traditional pub, with big rooms, and friendly staff. It has been years sins I was last here so was unsure what to expect. For starter, I had the grilled halloumi, with sun-dried tomatoes. The olive oil was great and flavours were there. My other half had the fried squid, that was full of flavour and seasoned to perfection. Starters were a good size. For mains, as it was Sunday, you know we had to go for a roast.. and baby.. it didn't disapoint. At first look I thought , hmm those roast potatoes could look a bit more brown, but upon close inspection with my teeth and tongue, they were cooked to perfection. The beef.. ohh the beef, stole the show tender, soft flavorfull. There was no over cooked chewy meat anywhere near the mucky duck. The mains hit the spot. Then desert came, I had the crumble, which was genuinely one of the best I've had. My other half had the Belgium waffles, which she said we're of a high quality!

I recommend this...

Just had a meal have been there many times in the past. Very disappointed in the meal. we both had a starter the squid and at £8.55 you would think you are getting fresh food, but no, I had to ask the staff if it was frozen from a bag. Member of staff( looked like possible manager)came back and said yes it is from a bag frozen!! I j said taste like the same one we get from a supermarket and they confirmed possible same brand!! Main course rib eye steak had been beaten to oblivion it was ok not worth price tag of £26.90!! So for frozen bagged squid × 2 , 1 steak and 1 pulled pork ciabatta small chips , 2 glasses of wine.. £75.40!! They may have had an off night as the couple next to us also had an issue with their steak meal and he was offered to have it wrapped so he could take it...

What a find, a brilliant lunch in a lovely pub. A brilliant choice of drinks and a varied menu with enough to tempt anyone. Eventually settled on the rib of beef , which was cooked to perfection, slowly in red wine, I was informed by the very welcoming hostess and chef. And although I rarely try desserts I could not resist the chocolate glory, this is a must for any chocolate lovers , basically chocolate with more chocolate. It’s not on a main road but definitely worth going to.

Went here on a date night during a Friday. We didn’t make any previous reservations but were lucky to get a table on arrival and the place was busy. Would definitely recommend the food here specially the beef ribs. Will definitely go back for more. The service can be a bit slow as the place was busy but other than that everything else was good.
