We booked a table for 10 people at the golf hotel, on Sunday September 29TH 2019 for a family reunion ,who we havenât seen for over 40 years. The reason we booked at the golf was because it was quite close for our family members to meet up. We arrived at 1300, it wasnât overly busy with a few people eating. Although the main course meals had been pre-ordered, we went to the bar to order starters and sweets, as two of the group had ordered the fish & chips and scampi & chips we were asked if we wanted white or brown bread with the meal. When the main courses finally arrived 6 of the 10 meals were NOT to the standard expected as follows.
Booked tickets for Christmas eve. Then decided to book a table for four. Tried to ring the pub to book a table but didn't get an answer. Went in to book. The manageress informed me that the phone is in the back office so they can't hear it and don't bother to answer it. She also said they were too busy to answer it. We arrived on Christmas Eve for the meal. We were told that the table wasn't ready and to get a drink. We could not get anywhere near the bar. There was not enough staff to serve the people. It took 25 minutes to get a drink. In this time the table was ready and the starter arrived but my husband and my friends husband had not returned. When they returned their soup starter was cold. Every time they tried to get to the bar they knew it was going to take time to get a drink so they didn't bother. I felt sorry for the waitress serving food she was on her own delivering food to the whole pub. After our main we waited for our dessert. The desserts didn't arrive. They had forgotten. The desserts had to be defrosted. These arrived frozen. During the evening not once did the manageress offer to help her staff on the bar or delivering food. She was just running around like a headless chicken looking like she was busy. Her staff were stressed and didn't look happy. This is a shame as the previous manageress supported her staff and her staff always looked happy. This has not happened since the new manageress took over three months ago. This was also a ticket event after 9pm but some people were getting in without paying for a ticket. The band played some excellent music. The singer had a superb voice.

The real kicker, was having the wrong food arrive and being told because thatâs what the person at the bar put thorough thatâs what Iâd get. Because itâs my fault they pushed the wrong buttonâŠ
Oh and one of the dishes came without sides listed on the menu.
All round totally awful. Not a single positive thing to say.
edit to respond: we waited 15 minutes at the bar to be served, while one bartender worked and a manager chatted to a customer. Not sure where "one customer before me" comes from or how you would possibly measure that, there was a que.
The staff memeber did not offer to return the food to the kitchen, the offered to go check what was ordered, then came back and confirmed it and told me "I would not get any free food".
the lukewarm food I assume was cooked before the other items. it was deep fried chicken which could easily have cooled down within 12 minutes.
We asked for the items listed against the standard Hunters Chicken on the menu, the coleslaw (didn't arrive even after asking) and the onion rings, which did. I accept a mistake was made expecting the garlic bread, wasn't what I was refering to.
the plates were not empty, the burger which was not ordered was untouched. The nachos half eaten.
odd, petty and utterly unrelated thing to mention, but one of the flowers did indeed fall apart when the menus brushed past it. The others were unaffected. We did clean it up for you though as we felt bad.
