This was a meal that was booked for a birthday treat. Upon arrival it was deemed that my booking had not been processed using the online system, however the friendly and kind man who greeted us, told us although it was busy, he would be able to seat the 2 of us. The table we were allocated was a nice quiet location, however the menus were dirty and the table lamp holding the candle had old food stuck to it. I ordered two Bacardi mojito cocktails and loved that the menu showed the glass it was to be served in. When the Mojitos arrived they were served in a martini glass and did not have the ingredients suggested such as lime and mint. I politely pointed this out to our waitress when she came to take our food order and she kindly told me she would have them replaced for what they should be. The cocktails that were then served were absolutely delicious! We then ordered our starters, the calamari was delicious, however the cheese mushrooms were not quite treat. They were whole baby mushrooms in a watery unseasoned cheese soup. The menu suggested it would be a cheese and spinach sauce, however there was 1 leaf of spinach amongst the slop. We appreciated the restaurant was busy, and that they had seated us having not received a reservation, however the time it then took after starters to mains was nearly 45 mins. At around 30 mins of waiting, the lettuce bowl for my daughters steak was served. 15 mins later both our plates turned up and were presented lovely. However, I very quickly realised that the maple chicken I had ordered off the menu was unseasoned and not cooked well. I explained this to the waitress when she came to check how things were. I showed her the chicken and she understood and asked if she should take the plate back and ask the chef to render down the fat and skin and season it some more. I stated that would be lovely. The steak was slightly fatty and not cooked to taste, however due to being hungry and waiting so long my daughter tucked in. My plate then was served around 10 minutes later and apart from the chicken having more sauce coated on it and reheated, there was no difference in the way it was originally served. The waitress could see the disappointment and came back over, she stated she could get me something else or a fresh plate. By this point I was fed up and hungry but Heather the waitress was lovely and it was decided she would get me a chicken burger. My daughter had finished her meal by this point. My chicken burger arrived, unseasoned and tasteless but I just needed something of substance to eat so coated it with mayonnaise and consumed. Finally for dessert we ordered the chocolate brownie and the cinnamon and coconut tarte/cheesecake. The brownie was rich and delicious, however the cheese cake dish again not quite the treat… looked great on the plate however was thick and dense and has zero taste of coconut. As a cinnamon cheesecake, it would have been fine with a bit of cream or ice cream on the side to make it more pleasant to eat. The food and wait time was a real let down and by the end of the night and 3 hours after arriving we were both just left feeling fed up and disappointed. However, Heather was very accommodating and having known the experience we just had, she deducted £10 from the overall bill and apologised, which was very kind of her.

TL:DR Service was great but would advise going before the 9:30pm last bookings as your order will be rushed. Food was amazing and our server (Rosie) was friendly, patient and very helpful. - I have visited many Miller and Carters throughout the country and decided to try this one while on a bank holiday trip to Suffolk. Initial impressions weren’t good as upon arrival the manager on shift advised us the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes and we were pressured to get an order through upon arrival even though there is a later booking time available at 9:45pm. Following the above we were taken to our table and allocated a server (Rosie) who was extremely helpful and patient. Rosie’s service was excellent, describing to us her recommendations which led to us having the butchers block. Impressions then improved with the cleanliness of the restaurant and atmosphere which was very pleasant. Our mains and sides then arrived where I can say the food was well presented and tasted excellent. With approximately 25 minutes till close (10:35pm) Rosie then asked if there was anything else she could get us. We ordered the chocolate brownie dessert to share and I asked for another small glass of Red wine (given the time). Unfortunately, I was told the bar closed at 10:30pm and no more drinks orders were possible. This was disappointing as I wasn’t notified or asked regarding any last orders for drinks. Overall, a good experience with a couple of minor improvements and excellent food. I would definitely return but with an earlier reservation time.

I'm visiting my parents from Sweden for my mums birthday and father's day. They chose the restaurant so happy to come along. I had the scallops to start. The bacon was supposed to be crispy, it was lightly looked which is fine but not as described. I also could not have told you it was maple cured if I hadn't read the description. Three rashers would have been more appropriate than two. Mum had the mushrooms, fine but as a starter didn't really need so much bread and dad had the calamari which was actually better than it looked. For main dad had steak, mum had lamb, I had the seabass. The seabas was well cooked but lacked seasoning and a slice of lemon would have livened it up. There was very little sauce, it was more like a thick puree garnish which tasted well and hoped the fish but there wasn't much. The Mediterranean vegetables were fine. Mum's lamb was a little over cooked and a bit tough and the brocoli was hard and under cooked. Dads steak was perfect. Can't fault the dish at all. The staff were friendly, although it would have been nice for the drink order to be taken a little earlier, but they were polite. Professional and friendly. There us a nice atmosphere although I did find it a little too warm but that's maybe just me! In my humble opinion I felt the prices were a little high for the food we were given but maybe I expected too much! The house white was good. Would I go again? I would not choose it myself, but if someone I was with wanted to go I would accompany them. It was fine, but it was not acceptional.
