TL:DR Service was great but would advise going before the 9:30pm last bookings as your order will be rushed. Food was amazing and our server (Rosie) was friendly, patient and very helpful. - I have visited many Miller and Carters throughout the country and decided to try this one while on a bank holiday trip to Suffolk. Initial impressions weren’t good as upon arrival the manager on shift advised us the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes and we were pressured to get an order through upon arrival even though there is a later booking time available at 9:45pm. Following the above we were taken to our table and allocated a server (Rosie) who was extremely helpful and patient. Rosie’s service was excellent, describing to us her recommendations which led to us having the butchers block. Impressions then improved with the cleanliness of the restaurant and atmosphere which was very pleasant. Our mains and sides then arrived where I can say the food was well presented and tasted excellent. With approximately 25 minutes till close (10:35pm) Rosie then asked if there was anything else she could get us. We ordered the chocolate brownie dessert to share and I asked for another small glass of Red wine (given the time). Unfortunately, I was told the bar closed at 10:30pm and no more drinks orders were possible. This was disappointing as I wasn’t notified or asked regarding any last orders for drinks. Overall, a good experience with a couple of minor improvements and excellent food. I would definitely return but with an earlier reservation time.

I'm visiting my parents from Sweden for my mums birthday and father's day. They chose the restaurant so happy to come along. I had the scallops to start. The bacon was supposed to be crispy, it was lightly looked which is fine but not as described. I also could not have told you it was maple cured if I hadn't read the description. Three rashers would have been more appropriate than two. Mum had the mushrooms, fine but as a starter didn't really need so much bread and dad had the calamari which was actually better than it looked. For main dad had steak, mum had lamb, I had the seabass. The seabas was well cooked but lacked seasoning and a slice of lemon would have livened it up. There was very little sauce, it was more like a thick puree garnish which tasted well and hoped the fish but there wasn't much. The Mediterranean vegetables were fine. Mum's lamb was a little over cooked and a bit tough and the brocoli was hard and under cooked. Dads steak was perfect. Can't fault the dish at all. The staff were friendly, although it would have been nice for the drink order to be taken a little earlier, but they were polite. Professional and friendly. There us a nice atmosphere although I did find it a little too warm but that's maybe just me! In my humble opinion I felt the prices were a little high for the food we were given but maybe I expected too much! The house white was good. Would I go again? I would not choose it myself, but if someone I was with wanted to go I would accompany them. It was fine, but it was not acceptional.

A disappointment from start yo finish, on arrival on a wet Monday evening in late October, greeted, have you booked? No. We prefer you to book in advance! Understandable if it were busy by at best during our stay a max 40% of tables had guests at. Good waiter talked through allergies, gluten no problem, soya also - black pepper would he would talk to the chef. So we ordered he went to talk to the chef, considerably later he returned - mushroom starter could not be served black pepper free but the 50 day aged sirloin would be cooked in a pan not the griddle! Starters were good two buratta, one minus topping, and a prawn cocktail. Then, a long, long wait for mains. Sitting where we could see the pass, we could see two meals come up with allergy flags placed under lamps, along with other food, and just sit there. The two flagged dishes were there for 20 plus minutes before having garnish added and brought to the table. The burger had been overcooked and dried out under lights and was in edible. Surprisingly, the chips with them we cold! The two steak meals were tepid apart from the chips, which were hot . Staff offered to replace the burger meal, but we chose just to have some new chips. They then deducted the meal from the bill. No comments regarding the mainly left steak meals. A bill of £130 plus for three starters and two substandard mains with the cheapest wine - expensive night. It's not a patch on other M&C we have been to. We will not return here, but we may try another M&C elsewhere.

My partner and I went here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and getting our first house together, and we also had a £70 voucher we got for Christmas. Due to these factors, we decided to go "all out" with what we ordered. We had cheesy garlic bread to start which was some of the best I have ever tasted. For mains my partner had the T-Bone steak cooked medium rare and I had the 10z fillet mignon with scallops cooked medium rare, but it was more rare, but I was not complaining, it was perfect. We both have been to Miller and Carter many times before and nearly always get the same thing, and it is always amazing, but these meals were outstanding, you definitely get what you pay for. We did have to still pay £50 out of our own pockets for 4 drinks, macaroni cheese side on top of the other things, but we did not mind for the quality of food received. The service was on point too.

Booked to spend NYE here, fully aware of the implemented menu in place. Sadly, we didn't get our arrival drinks, when it came to ordering our meal, they had "run out" of the steak we wanted. I had to remind one of the members of staff that we hadn't had our arrival drinks, eventually bought to us in small plastic cups as what felt like an after thought. Our mains arrived followed by the lettuce bowl. When it came to placing our dessert order they had "run out" again of one's we wanted. Very poorly managed for such a big night, Miller and Carter you should have anticipated the night and ensured supplies were a plenty! We had our table booked for 8.30pm so wasn't a late sitting! On a positive note, the colleague looking after us Paul, was very friendly, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for him. Kept the cocktails flowing!

Shared a pre booked NYE meal with my partner and parents, disappointed we didn't get our arrival drinks, it took for my partner to tell the server where we were then given them in a small plastic cup. We had our table booked for 8.30pm, when our order was eventually taken, we were told the main we chose had run out. Our lettuce bowl was served after we got our steak mains?! Dessert choice, again what we wanted had run out. Ordered a take away of dessert. Thankfully the cocktails were in full flow, and our server Paul was great and clearly rushed off his feet, but he still managed great service! The NYE menu was not cheap, appreciating a busy time, but it's not like we were late diners. You Can't predict what customers are going to order but you can ensure enough supplies were too hand.
