We had been told how good the food was here so was really looking forward to going. We were warmly greeted by very friendly staff and taken straight to our table. The staff were very friendly throughout. Our drinks order was taken reasonably quickly but then we had to wait before they took our food order. 3 of us went for the half lobster and also paid extra for the crevette prawns the other meal was for the crab. We didn't have a long wait for the meals to come. To say it was a very big disappointment was an understatement the crab although very tasty was very small. The main issue was the lobster meals. The lobsters had hardly any meat in them the prawns were rubbery and just tasted of garlic. The chips were frozen ones and the salad looked like it was out of a packet from a supermarket and they charged £28 for this? As it was this would never ever be value for money. In the Swans defence they did listen to our complaints and never charged us for the...
Read moreThe Swan Inn was recommended to me by a colleague and I was not disappointed. This is generally a fish restaurant and pub.
The restaurant is nicely decorated with fishing nets and a boat and the tables are nicely spaced to allow room to walk past.
All of the staff are welcoming and despite how busy it gets usually on the ball.
The food is the talking point! I was told by the waitress that all of the food comes from Lowestoft as the owner (not the landlord) owns a fishing business there. This keeps the prices very reasonable.
We are a family of four who had two courses including some excellent mussels and lobster and three rounds of drinks. The food presented well and tasted outstanding. The cost of the meal was approx. £90 which I would say is about right.
It is advisable to book very early. On a Sunday the Swan Inn has been known to be booked for three weeks!! That says...
Read moreThe atmosphere was pleasant, while there were two other couples having a meal. However, not long after they left, the bleach came out to clean tables, and made for a less than pleasant end to the night. Staff were nice, as was the food, although I was disappointed that neither had me planning my next visit. Irish coffee was topped with squirty cream, which disappeared into the coffee almost as soon as it arrived. "Little" things like this can make a big difference. I wouldn't suggest that anyone avoids this establishment, as it's not bad. But, as you'll see from the 3 star rating I've given, it's some way off being my "go-to place" that I was hoping for. Overall, no really major faults, but nothing to pull me back time and again. Give it a shot, without high expectations, and you might just well be...
