Went on the range first - it must have over 20 bays , a cheerful member of staff wearing a orange hi vis jacket was pulling a trolley loaded with washed range balls - I said to him '' your baskets bigger than mine ! '' He laughed & said yep about 11,000 more ! A young pro was teaching kids & they looked to be having lots of fun - a little rowdy but I didn't mind as it's good to see them take up golf so young . After the range I paid for 18 holes , I was on my own & two members who were very friendly asked if I would like to join them after I caught them up on the 2nd tee so I did & we played off yellows & then blue tees . I was was amazed how good the course looked , It's mid June but still I was impressed with how superb the Greens were so credit to the Greenkeepers . The fairways were in great shape too , the Tee's were okay . I noticed lots of bird boxes in the trees & one member said the owner made them , he wasn't sure how many but thought it was around 70 boxes - how amazing & thoughtful of him :) . I loved playing the 6th - over a large pond which had a lovely fountain going . We had a couple of beers after outside & the staff were so friendly - Karen behind the bar was very pleasant & brought my Guiness out to me as it had to settle first . When I left I had a look at the stream opposite the car park - which by the way had plenty of spaces for parking - & I saw two swans with their young - 6 babies - a great end to my visit to The Lottbridge Golf club - I will be back next summer & this time I'll be bringing my Golf club members with me for a...
Read moreShort course that has some variety with elevation and dog legs but no par 5's. Not recommended for anyone who is drawn to water as there is plenty of it here!
All of the regular tee's and the greens were still in play (15Dec16) which is good for the time of year. However the greens were desperately in need of rolling as they were very bumpy. Also the members seem particularly bad at repairing pitch marks some greens were littered with unrepaired ones.
The club house bar and restaurant was looking good and the sausage roll I ate on this visit was nice.
One final criticism and room for improvement would be the course signage. The fairway yardages are marked with painted discs sunken into the centre of the fairways... not so good if you're playing from the fringe/rough. But the worst part was green to tee signage or rather the lack of.. As a first time visitor I found it difficult especially with no map on...
Read moretravel 36 miles to meet a friend there at 7:25pm for 9 holes to be told by a manager Mr Smith that the last tee off time is 7pm as the owners don’t want any tee off times after that time. Although my friend tee’d off later than 7pm the week before hence the later tee off time today. Searched their website to find ZERO about a last tee off time.. completely disappointed travelling so far for nothing! Seemed more to be the fact he couldn’t be bothered to go out on a buggy of it got to late and more interested in standing outside smoking a cigarette as he was when I arrived, and...
