Update: October 2022 - Quality has definitely dropped since the last visit. The Pear and Walnut pizza comes with dried pear slices rather than fresh and they forgot the walnuts. I was glad that there was a Gluten Free option but it wasn’t great. Felt like a kids pizza (see pic). Won’t go back for pizza. May try the pizza next time

Dec 2020: We decided to try the Lapstone with some friends for Saturday lunchtime. We pre-booked a table via facebook. Although there were some free tables, I'd recommend booking.

Covid rules were clear and explained on arrival. It felt very covid secure and staff were attentive.

We ordered two sharing platters between 4 which also came with a basket of bread (not shown in the pic). This was really nice and had a good, high quality selection of meat and cheeses. The olives and picked onions were really good too.

We all ordered different pizzas. The options offer something a little different from the standard pizza options you'd find elsewhere.

The pear and walnut pizza was extremely well balanced, surprisingly a bit of a favourite! I'll definitely be having that if we go back. The Norma (aubergine) was also very good but the skin on the aubergine was a little tough. A pizza cutter may have helped with this. We would have liked a bit more chilli. The Lapstone pizza was really nice - slightly overcooked on the bottom but it was really tasty. Due to it being on a plate rather that flat surface, the oil had all pooled in the middle. The crudo e zola was very good with a good combination of gorgonzola and Parma ham.

There are some minor improvements I'd like to see. The pizzas are served on regular plates so the oil drizzled on top pools in the middle. The plates and the knives make it difficult to cut. Flat pizza plates and a pizza cutter would have make this easier.

Price wise we thought this place was a touch on the expensive side. That was until we'd tried the food. They're using high quality ingredients and it pays off. We're looking forward to coming back in the new year when there are a few more food options available.

Pizzas cost ~£3 more to eat in...

Possibly the most selfish and inconsiderate pub owner I have ever met. Regular live and recorded music going well beyond 11pm. They simply don’t care about local residents. A hub not a pub my arse, it’s a live music venue who couldn’t give a monkeys about the impact they have on people who live nearby

In response to the reply from the Lapstone Pub.

This is the first and only response we have had from the pub in relation to our complaints about noise nuisance. It is strange that this single response is on an open public forum. All previous emails, voicemails etc have been completely ignored.

We have never been invited to a community forum other than a private meeting 2 years ago to discuss our concerns about the firework display that was in clear breach of the Animal Welfare Act. These concerns were ignored.

The pub regularly plays pre-recorded and live music outdoors beyond 11pm, of which we have evidence. We also have evidence of customers leaving the pub up to and beyond midnight and being extremely loud.

I have no issue with a pub, what I do have issue with is a live music event preventing me enjoying my property and garden

For those who suggest we shouldn’t live close to a pub, firstly put yourselves in our shoes and secondly prior to this landlord there was no noise nuisance problem.

We are not the only people concerned about the noise nuisance, there are numerous complaints from the Knowle Park estate and Ascot Road estate. Perhaps I am the only one willing to put his head above the parapet.

Should the landlord wish to have a frank and honest face to face discussion about our concerns I would be only too willingly. I fear he will not be prepared to do so

We simply want to be able to enjoy our house and garden without intrusive and...

We attended The Lapstone tonight for the Euros Final. £15.00 per person for a pizza or a pie and a drink, plus of course the opportunity to watch the football in a lovely setting and atmosphere. The pizzas were lovely. I’ve been to the Lapstone one a month since everything opened and the food has always been good and the staff attentive. This evening however, ended up in a disagreement with the Manager. I asked for 4 beers with our 4 pizzas. I was going to buy my 2 boys soft drinks. Their dad and I would have had the beers. I was told no. It had to be 2 soft drinks and 2 beers. There were plenty of tables with 4 or 6 adults who had all paid £15 a head and got alcohol. I had paid £15 a head for 4 adult meals that 2 of which would not be fully eaten as they were for kids!! I explained I was a regular customer and that I did not think this was fair and I was basically told TUFF! It is £3.75 for 2 soft drinks and over £4 one beer. Not a lot to them, in the scheme of things, but a lot to me as a single mum treating my boys and their Dad to a night at the football. Clearly I could not cut my nose off to spite my face, as we had paid to attend and they had us over a barrel. We had our 2 soft drinks and 2 beers with our food. And we bought more soft drinks, ice cream, some more beers and a glass of wine each. But I won’t forget the principle or attitude and sadly won’t be in a rush...

Been for a roast last Sunday. I'm vegetarian my wife isn't so she had a turkey roast. She said it was tasty, especially the Yorkshire pudding. I ordered the establishment's Nut Roast for myself. She's been begging me for months to go try the roast here, so we went. First, it was a 'Not' roast. There wasn't a sign of the nut roast it anywhere- instead it was replaced by a very bland veggie burger patty, as the nut roast ran out. Normally, I wouldn't mind a replacement of any item, however I was not told this prior to ordering nor when the food was delivered. At least the expectation would have been managed. But this was a big disappointment. We've been to this establishment before and enjoyed other items from the menu and the staff is always very friendly. However, this item just let it all down. It's not just the replacement, but how it was done and why it was even thought an acceptable replacement for a Sunday Roast!

Our night out at The Lapstone was brilliant. It's been really beautifully done, both inside and out. We had booked a table and I'm very glad we did because it got very busy! And no wonder because this pub is great! We had a bottle of the viognier which was delicious and well priced. We then had calamari to share. I then had a pizza and my partner had the gammon. All of the food was outstanding. And, I must say despite the fact that it was Saturday night, every table was filled and a party was on, the waiting staff were amazing! Everything was so fast and they were so lovely to boot! We also had a slice of cheesecake each for pudding which was also great. We finished off with a tree of cocktails which were beautifully presented, delicious and great value. We will 100% visit The Lapstone again! The owners and staff have made this pub a fabulous asset to the local community.
