The Hayloft Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Eglwysbach

Went for the first time tonight as locals, thinking this would be where we would bring friends and family. It was my husbands birthday, and also the launch night of their new menu. 3 choices of starters main and dessert. I chose deep fried Brie for my starter. The Brie was cold and hard, not deep fried at all. My husband chose spicy parsnip soup, now, we eat a lot of Indian food, he likes spicy, but this was far too spicy, actually burning his throat. For main I ordered sea bass, my husband ordered spaghetti tossed in beef ragu. My fish was raw!!! My husbands meal was extremely bland. At this point I waited for a waitress to notice we were wanting to speak to someone. After 10 minutes a new member of staff walked in and I put my hand up to summon her over. I explained my fish was raw, and my starter of Brie had also not been deep fried. We wanted to leave at this point, as the whole birthday celebration had been crushed. She said there would be no charge. We got up to leave, on the way out I said it that we were local and hoping to use this place a lot more, but on tonight’s experience we would go elsewhere. Her answer was, Well it’s our launch night … at which point she turned her back on me and walked away .. So very rude !!! I’m going to contact a manager of the owner, because this really is unacceptable for a place that offers good food and good service. I won’t even go into detail about the state of the men’s toilets .. I just hope someone else went in there and mentions it. There is a saying that you should always check the toilets of a restaurant.. it’s a sign of how the kitchen is. If I’d known about the toilets before going into the restaurant, I would have got back in our car and gone...

I had my wedding here 19/10/24. From the moment we picked this as our venue, which was a very easy yes, we were looked after and felt in the best hands. Olivia couldn't do enough for us, kept us up to date on what was needed from us and if they could do anything to make the day special. They got in the alcohol requested behind the bar. The food was out of this world, even though they catered for 85+ guests. The food was hot and delicious and we didn't hear one bad remark. The few guests who had dietary requirements said that the catering to their needs went above and beyond any wedding that they had ever been to. Olivia set up the venue the morning of, along with our florist and it bought a tear to my eyes. The venue is already dressed to be stunning with their dried hops on the beams, but with our own touches, it was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Just perfect. Nothing was too much trouble, breakfast to the rooms in the morning while getting ready in the farm house accommodation at the back of the venue. The waitresses were outstanding and were always asking if we needed anything at all. They were most friendly and efficient. The venue flowed as a place for the young and old, with a great bar, fireplace, terrace with lights and benches and the views were special. I couldn't be happier and more proud to have had our wedding here....

My partner booked for my birthday! Was fitted very quickly, unfortunately we had the wobbly table so we had to change tables, the menu handed to us were dirty!! With spilt food etc!! Dinner turned up quickly, not exceptional but very nice. Asked for dessert, but the one I wanted was not available as they had some sort of issue, I believe the mousse had set solid!! I feel it all needs a really good deep clean!! The bar area was not very clean, in the corners of the floor were dirt piles,of dust and food looked like it had been swept there! Window dressing very dirty and dusty, and huge cobwebs! And lots of soot on the ceiling from the fire, also the tables were sticky. In the restaurant area again the same!! Items on the window shelfs were very dirty and dusty, radiators very dirty, and lots of marks on the wall. Really needs a deep clean and a lick of fresh paint! This is a beautiful place, and I feel it's lacking potential as it could be so much more! The outside area is lovely, but again, it needs some love. Hanging lights need replacing as they have water in them , loose paving stone, and benches need some TLC. This is a beautiful spot! That could look stunning with lots of flowers etc. PLEASE GIVE THIS A LITTLE FACELIFT, it's looking very unloved...
