Alio’s Delicatessen in Walton-on-Thames is a family-run Italian shop that feels special in the area. I often buy fresh bresaola and mortadella here, which they slice perfectly, and there’s also a lovely selection of sandwiches. They make interesting ciabatta sandwiches to take away, but also simple ones like mortadella and cheese, which are perfect for kids. It’s convenient to combine my grocery shopping with a coffee (they do decaf as well) and a takeaway sandwich. Reception around the shop is sometimes poor, so paying online with my card app can be tricky, but they accept cash which is helpful. Read moreI can not believe people want to eat from here with a 1 star food hygiene rating -according to the food standards agency hygiene website , inspected on 22nd Jan this year (major improvement necessary for management of food safety and hygienic food handling) yuk!! This is the lowest score you can get!! Also very overpriced and so many out of date items on shelf too… il think il go somewhere else from now on. A 1 star food hygiene rating has put me right off. This is one of the lowest scores I have ever seen in Elmbridge..
