We went here last Sunday lunchtime, not been here for years, can't remember when, wanted somewhere out of the town to eat. Quick few minutes drive up Goldington Road in Bedford from the town centre. We sat in the rather nice conservatory area, nicely decorated with all different items & colours, works really well, we had a katsu curry chicken with rice & chips, & hunters chicken with chips & a salad, i asked for my BBQ sauce on the side as I don't like too much,& prefer to put my own on, we also had a side order of cheesy garlic bread which was lovely. There were a few pieces of leaves in the salad which had gone soft, which i would have picked out if I had been at home, & one end of my chicken breast was slightly over cooked, quite brown & hard, but it was very thick, so they had to make sure it was cooked, which i just put extra sauce on. They also do coffee & cake for £3.49,which looked really good value, coffee out the machine & a good sized slice of cake, which was chocolate last week, we didn't try any as we were too full up, next time we will though as we won't have any extras with our meal, & there will be a next time as we think we have found somewhere really nice & pleasant to eat, with prices as good as anywhere else, also we both had pineapple & lemonade to drink, & the land lady offered more pineapple if needed which is really good,as it can be so weak, when they really portion it out, overall was a really nice experience, & we would recommend it for people to try.

Whilst some of the decor is pretty with nice paintings and bits, in other areas it looks very worn and tied, with peeling paint and stains. When I went it wasn't very busy yet there were loads of tables full of dirty plates and drinks, and quite a lot of food under tables. The stuff were really friendly and accommodating, more than happy to clean a table when asked, checked up a few times and really did seem to care. The good is at good value, I had the mushroom pie and chips, it tasted very good, I was surprised by the portion of the chips and peas (expected a little more) and the gravy had a slight skin on it, maybe evident that it had been sat under the lights for a bit.

I’ve said this before but a hungry horses use to be the last resort for food. But it’s slowly moving up that ranking table after a visit to the needle and awl in Rushden and today visiting the Anchor in Bedford. So food was decent today the wings were on point crispy and meaty and a served with Franks Red Hot and a yoghurt dip if your abit of a wimp. My main of a baguette was at the same levels as a previous experience but my side salad with it had less life than Jesus did on Good Friday. Service was decent enough just abit of wait for the food and as per the photo the cutlery was mega dirty which they replaced luckily.

If I could have given it no stars I would!

My friend went here a week earlier and commented on the food being nice. As it was her birthday I decided to take her out for something to eat with friends and her daughter as a surprise.

We ordered a few starters to share. First has garlic mushrooms, they were dripping in Greasy oil. I put two on a napkin to try to draw some of the grease out, after a minute the napkin was sodden but the mushrooms were still greasy. Next we had garlic bread, this was burnt. We are loaded nachos with sour cream, instead of the normal golden yellow colour they would like an orangey brown. If you tried to bite into them they snapped!!! The sweet potato fries were also burnt despite arriving half an hour after everything else. My friend brought these concerns to the managers attention, she advised us that the food was supposed to look like that.

The table in front of us left and over half of their plates were covered in food. There was a bowl of cooked congealed pasta that was all clumped together with no sauce on it at all. There was a burger that was raw in the middle. There was a chicken breast that was so dry and hard it looked like you could skim it across a like like a stone.

To our right a couple returned their food to the kitchen as there was something wrong with that.

We decided at this point to cut our losses and go elsewhere, the manager refunded the mushrooms despite all of the other food being atrocious.

As we were leaving a waitress walked past us delivering a steak to a table, the steak was black, there was an acrid burning smell emanating from the plate, we didn’t wait around to see what happened. This was way way more than being well done, it’s not difficult to cook a steak, you only need a timer. *NEVER, EVER AGAIN WILL I VISIT THIS ESTABLISHMENT *!!!!

We went to the harvester and the...

Went there with 4 children and a friend yesterday we only saw 2 staff one behind the bar and one bringing out food they worked flat out the one behind the bar also helped in the kitchen and clearing tables leaving the bar unattended. We had to wait to put our order in then told there was no kids burgers, manager had gone to buy some, this was bad management to run out of food for kids during school holiday and to go shoppingfor food during the lunch period as it was 1pm. A big poster saying kids eat for £1. Three of the kids had a burger from the main menu, costing us much more than the £1 they advertised because of this they also ran out of chicken nuggets so the 4th had to have chicken that came with a baked potato that she couldn't eat it was all dry. The rest of us had chips which were just warm, coleslaw was just a teaspoon amount of sliced onion. I have been a regular customer but since this manager has taken over the pub has gone down badly I will not be going there again. I could have sent my food back but we had waited one and a half hours for it and where all hungry by then. If i had not paid for it i would have walked. With two other pubs with food a matter of yards away that's where I will be going in future. That's a loss to HH of three people weekly gone for good. Green King sort this out before you loose all...
