UPDATED MAY 2024 I said I'd consider this site for a group booking, and that is exactly what we had this half term week! We had three tents pitched together in the bottom field and a caravan on the hard standing, with campers arriving and leaving at various points during the week. Again, we had plenty of space and there were no issues with noise after hours. The fire pit hire was great, with plenty of wood provided. Marshmallows every evening, and jacket potatoes with campfire beans went down a treat. The site has been improved since last year with the access road being extended through the middle field, making it much easier to access the bottom field. We unfortunately had to decamp during rain and 40mph gusts. The owners went well above and beyond helping with possibly the wettest and windiest pack up I have had to do in over 35 years of camping! Thank you Beacon Farm! What a great campsite! We stayed for a week at the end of July and pitched in the bottom field - next to the wildflower meadow. It is the furthest from the toilets but it was also the quietest field which was great. The ability to pitch wherever is great - we were just one tent but there were a few other larger groups with multiple tents around the site. Despite the large groups, we never experienced an excess of 'volume', be it music, kids or chatter. The toilets and showers are basic but clean, the staff are super friendly, and the food in the cafe was tasty. We will definitely consider this for future trips to Whitby, especially if looking for a site which takes large group bookings. Thank you for a great (if wet!) week!

We stayed here three nights. It is a lovely location with a lovely view of Whitby town in the distance where you can see the Abbey. The campsite itself was lovely and clean and well maintained. We were given a friendly welcome and the staff were helpful throughout checking in with us on a few occasions. The toilet facilities were good, very clean, lots of toilet roll and secure. There are lights on a night so you can easily see in the dark. There are also shower facilities with plenty of space. The water was hot, just nice. The one and only annoying thing was having to push the button to keep the flow going. There is a good play park for the kids to play on in the middle of the site. There are some animals around the farm including goats and highland cattle which were a cute addition. There was plenty of ice cream flavours to choose from in the ice cream parlour which was delicious. We completed a walk through the woods, across the river and along the railway track into Whitby town which took about 1 and half hours (with three children aged 6, 8 and 11 and a Frenchie in tow) and about 2.5 miles in distance and got a taxi home at a cost of around £11.40. Overall a really lovely weekend and a great campsite with excellent facilities, including a barn where you can wash and clean your pots, charge your phone/ electricals in a locker for £1 and refreeze your ice packs for your cool box! We will definately be returning and recommending to friends and family.

This is a camping site so I can't rate rooms but have given a four-star for the camping environment. There are eight hard-standing electric hookup areas for campervans motorhomes or caravans. Great sizes and plenty of room between with great views of Whitby town and Whitby. Abbey. On arrival Matt was absolutely approachable and welcoming and obviously takes pride in the business. It is a working farm who make their own ice cream of all different flavours which is sold in the ice cream, parlour and tea rooms. The tea rooms is dog friendly, the food, the service, the staff are outstanding and the ice cream is just delicious. The ice cream is sold in many places in the Whitby area and I'm sure further afield as well, but our experience here was just wonderful. The toilet and shower facilities are in a portable style buildings. More superior than you would find in a festival, but they are modular buildings, we only had one day where the electric had tripped out and so there was no hot water. But we stayed for seven nights and never had any issues with the water or cleanliness of the facilities. They are checked regularly and I know that Matt works from around 6:00 in the morning until 11:00 at night. Making sure that all the guests are catered for and happy. Reception doubles as a shop which has a few essential bits. The shop isn't always staffed so you have to call a number if they're not there, but bread and milk and eggs is also available from the ice cream Parlour. We went as a couple but it's an ideal place for children too within easy reach of Whitby, Goathland and only 19 mi from Scarborough or Middlesbrough. If towing a caravan, the drive to the campsite is very hilly and there are some very steep hills but otherwise it's perfectly located. If I had to find any fault with this campsite, it would be the small incline to the hard-standing areas which is okay on arrival but many caravans lost there steady plates when leaving, the waste area is also a little neglected and I was conscious that some ink could run out around my feet but there's ample waist bins just needs bit more attention. Maybe concreting or something? The only other area that I would mention that needs updating is the chemical toilet disposal which is outside up a stoney path where there is one waste disposal unit, a tap and a French drain which I suspect is for the grey waste. However, that really does need attention. The pot wash area is in an old barn and not great, the supplied freezer for freezer blocks is old and in need of regular defrosting but great facility Would highly recommend this campsite and the ice cream parlour and the breakfast are...

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Beacon Farm. We were there with family using it as a great way to catch up with our family It a very family friendly site set just outside Whitby lovely views of surrounding area with Whitby castle outlining the distance. Staff are warm and friendly very helpful. Facilities are good, washing up area with freezer for ice packs a new shower and toilet block is great lot's with family showers making it easier to shower little ones. There's a good play area and plenty of space for football cricket and games. Lovely for families even our sometimes grumpy teens enjoyed having fun without their phones although there are phone charging facilities. Theirs a lovely nature trail around the site and it's about a three mile walk into Whitby directions you can get a map from reception. Big pluss the Ice cream parlour with their own delicious ice cream, one will not be enough!! They do a great breakfast lovely cakes and cream teas. You can use barbeques and fire pits, which are available to hire. They impose a strict quiet time after 11 o'clock but honestly all that fresh air were all ready for bed. Our family has been several years now look forward to returning. Many thanks for making our stay wonderful. Just returned from another great family camping holiday staying at this brilliant camp(May Bank holiday 2/25). It's a very friendly site kept very clean with good facilities. Great for families children love the play area. Plenty of space to play football and cricket. Lovely cafe serving very yummy breakfast, delicious scones and cakes plus serving nice selection of lunches.Best of all is the ice-cream my favourite is honeycomb. They also have a stall around the harbour in Whitby so after a lovely walk to Whitby you can get another... yummy. Was a bit breezy when we were there so worth looking for a sheltered spot for your tent. All the staff there are very friendly and helpful so hopefully we'll be back again....

What a shame! It's alright as long as you don't meet the farmer. The ice cream is beautiful. The campsite is ok, a bit unfinished in parts, but it's a Farm and not a purpose built campsite, so i expect that. We booked about 6 months ago. I called to check if we could pitch a caravan and tent next to each other - was told we could, so booked. On arrival, totally different story. We could have booked lots of other places where tents and caravans weren't together, and not had to join the caravan & camping club. The lads in reception were very apologetic, hey ho....not what I booked and asked for, but it is what it is. Pitched up the tent and caravan, only for the father to come round and inform us we weren't pitched as per the instructions on the welcome sheet. I pointed out there were no instructions, and he said I had been given the wrong sheet but it was my fault. Apparently we should pitch in face first, to take advantage of the view ( which at this point was a 10ft hedge, later trimmed down) He then proceeded to call me a liar as he never said we could pitch next to each other when I booked.....then changed his story and said we were pitched next to each other - it's just a 12ft steep banking of thistles and nettles between us. He also told me how much I had upset his sons - I returned to the shop to apologise, but they apologised to me! Only a couple of toilets for a lot of campers, and broken play equipment. Had we not met the farmer, it would have been 4* Unfortunately I can't recommend this site to anyone - It was an expensive disappointment caused by a very rude man! Leave the lads to deal with the public and you will do much better - trip advisor reviews about the farmer...
