I have been before, after doing weddings with the Berts function team whilst I worked for a burger company. However today I feel like re-reviewing. We decided while driving to somewhere completely different to pop and see if we could get in here. On arrival the team welcomed us promptly and offered us a choice of seats, even though the restaurant was full, it appears that cleverly there are tables for walk-ins. The restaurant is decorated really well, clever use of wood to create an industrial looking ceiling whilst not being imposing, great light fittings all make the ambience great. The staff bought across the menus, explained what was not available and shortly afterwards another staff member came and took our order including drinks. The food arrived in a good time considering how busy it was. My partner ordered the pulled pork burger, which was a juicy patty topped with pulled pork and cheese, with a side of upgraded fries to sweet potato fries. I ordered my favourite burger and one I have been wanting for a while, the blue cheese burger, I upgraded my fries to truffle and parmesan fries. Both burgers were served in a roasted pretzel bun with lettuce and tomato and onion and the bread was sauced really well. My only criticism would be my burger needed more crunch (I didn't ask if the restaurant should have added bacon). The truffle fries were nothing other than delicious. I would say this meal would be in my top 5 burgers. I gave 4 stars for the service, simply because it was busy and we had to pop and get the dessert menu ourselves, once the staff were aware the great service resumed. For pudding I had Tiramisu and my partner had sticky toffee pudding. Again both were delicious and of a good size. I would definitely recommend this place, not only because the food is really good, well priced & the staff are all very professional and courteous, but the setting is just beautiful, looking over the lake watching people enjoy paddle boarding etc just adds to the experience.

We booked for a Saturday lunch, the day before. Best to do so because it is a popular destination. There were four adults, a five year old and a baby. All were accommodated with ease. My grandson was just 7 weeks old but we were able to bring in the pram because there was plenty of room and we were not causing inconvenience to staff or guests. Service is always cheerful, efficient and friendly and today was no exception. My other grandson, aged five, was delighted with the kids' menu and thoroughly enjoyed the chicken goujons and fries with orange juice, fresh or cordial. My wife enjoyed a gin and tonic with a great choice of brands. The house Sauvignon is refreshing, crisp and reasonably priced. The drinks list is very extensive! All the starters are good but do check the specials board for great alternatives. We recommend the chicken liver parfait and the calamari. I never tire of the Sea Bass which was presented beautifully in a butter sauce with vegetables. My daughter loved their Wagyu Burgers and my wife enjoyed her usual Caesar Salad but with smoked salmon on this occasion. Easy to reach, good parking, nice views, clean and comfortable with excellent food, Berts has never disappointed us.

First visit to Bert's Café today, specifically the Brandesburton branch. It was relatively quiet inside with a chilled out atmosphere overlooking the lake. I enjoy the fact that this restaurant has a strong focus on it's Gluten Free selection. With a coeliac in the family, it is often hard to visit a restaurant that has a wide variety of NCG foods. It is often overlooked how much this can affect ones dining experience. Having eaten at a range of different restaurants, it is excellent in comparison, with a whole NCG menu available and separate utensils provided for the allergen requirements. Very reasonable mid-range prices, all available to view online before visiting. I also found the portion sizes to be about right, and after finishing 3 courses I was satiated. It may have been our first visit to Bert's, but it definitely won't be our last. Thanks!

We have been here before and enjoyed the evening. Our Grandchildren where staying with us this week and we thought it would be a nice treat for them at Berts this Saturday. We reserved a table for 7pm arriving at around 6.55 and where immediately ushered to our table and ordered drinks. Our drinks arrived shortly afterwards, unfortunately our starters didn't arrive until 7.45 consisting of Soup of the Day, Olives & Prawn & Chorizo. The starters where all very much enjoyed despite the delay. For our mains we ordered 2 Fillet Steaks, 1 Pizza and 1 Mussels from the 'specials board' The Steaks and the Pizza again where very good, however our 12 year old granddaughter notice that some of her Mussels where still closed, we reported this to a member of staff who promptly apologised and offered to replace the offending Mussells and also offered a £6.00 refund (half the cost of the Mussels) which we accepted. However what would have been more appropriate was for the Chef to explain to us how food unfit for human consumption can served in a restaurant. If our Granddaughter had not notice that 8 of her Mussels served where unfit and had actually consumed these the circumstances could have been far worse. I think maybe that the Chef or whoever is responsible for food service should be a little more attentive and remind the staff of their individual responsibilities, for all concerned. We shall not...

Delicious food, delightful service and in a beautiful setting.

I had to take my elderly mother to Brandesburton for a meeting. Afterwards she told me she wanted me to take her to Bert's Cafe for lunch, as she had been there previously. I have to admit that I was not inspired at the thought of lunch at a Cafe, and the challenge of trying to locate it ( I really struggled, as it seemed well hidden) did not help. However, when we finally pulled up in their carpark my concerns were swept away. A lovely serene setting, literally overlooking over lake & more ducks than cars in the parking area. The building was well presented, mainly glass to make the most of the vista. Our greeting was friendly & professional, and we were shown to our table promptly despite not having booked. I ordered the Calzone pizza, my mother the Mussels (from the starter menu, but to be served with mine as a main). Both were utterly delicious. I could see my pizza being prepared, and being put in the pizza oven. Well cooked ingredients, plenty of them, and a perfectly baked lovely doughy base. Mum's appetite is smaller these days, nonetheless I was concerned that a starter may not be adequate as her "main". How wrong was I. A bowl piled high with fresh mussels, perfectly cooked and seasoned in tasty broth with fresh bread to the side. So, to sum it up.: Delicious food, delightful service and in a...
