This place has a lovely atmosphere and lots of history, and it really feels like an old and traditional pub. The service was okay, quite a lit if waiting for drinks and for our order to be taken. It felt like they were understaffed. The food was quite average, nothing special, so I was quite disappointed, unfortunately. We will not be returning.

Absolutely terrible , I would wholeheartedly recommend going somewhere else , booked here for 1:30 Sunday lunch , only got 1 choice of meat for the Sunday roast and they only offer 5 choices of main. Informed when we arrived they have sold out of pie so now that's 4 choices. and we thought well okay no problem we came for a roast dinner anyway. But when we went to order we have been told they have sold out of beef now so can't do the roast.

It's 1:30 pm? you serve Sunday menu all day? What an absolute disgrace.

Will never be returning here in my entire life and will make sure everyone I know avoids this place as well.

I hope this review wards enough people off this because imagine showing up for your lovely family meal and being told it's all sold out.

Response :

Then I suggest you look into your stock analyst as there is a serious failing going on if you cannot determine that on a Sunday , people would want your Sunday roast , out of the 5 main meal options, that left only 3 choices for the rest of the day...

Very disappointed with tonight's meal, I chose the lasagne as did my mother in law, in her words "yours is way better!" (And mine is one cooked from fresh taking 2.5 hrs to make.) it was bland and very dry, over cooked I would say. The curry had a funny taste, my son said the fish was tasteless and his chips was cold. When I thought about it mine were too as was my garlic bread. Sat for nearly 30 minutes being ignored when trying to get someone's attention to get the bill to no avail so went to the bar just to pay. Nearly £100 wasted tonight, such a shame we will not be returning

EDIT

following a response from bird in the barley, I understand it is hard to rectify an issue after the event, I just didn't feel I could raise the issue due to how busy you was and the lack of interaction by members of the team throughout the evening. The lasagne issue seems to be how the chefs make the dish upon speaking with family & friends who have visited...

We called in on Friday evening for food & drinks and really enjoyed ourselves. Firstly all the staff were very friendly, smiley and welcoming and that always goes a long way for me.😀👍🏼 The Ale that was on tap was absolutely beautiful and the best beer I’ve had for a long time. Fish & chips we ordered were delicious freshly made haddock with home cooked chips. Very cozy restaurant with a large conservatory for added seating. After food we sat in the lounge area on comfy leather seating to finish off our drinks. Well done to everyone for making us feel welcomed and we’re definitely call again especially for the tasty Ale 👍🏼

PS Lovely views and a very nice setting that makes it a place...
