What a hidden gem! I happened to be staying nearby after the Land's End trial so stopped in for breakfast before heading home. At first I was thrown by the outdoor-only seating, especially given slightly threatening skies, but Andrew (what a lovely man!) put the parasol up for me, the rain stayed off and I was treated to the best home-cooked full English breakfast I've ever had. Anywhere. Even my own, and I can cook. All the food was locally sourced and perfectly done. And real mushrooms, not tinned as so many cafes do these days. Definitely the highlight. The garden setting is tranquil, hidden away and beautiful. Their chow chow Isabella graced me with her presence throughout breakfast. She might have got a small piece of sausage for her troubles too... If you're in the area, like peace and quiet and good food, do yourself a favour and go straight here. Despite living a couple of hundred miles away I will be back for another amazing breakfast.

We paid a total of £27.90 and that includes one cream tea at £12 each, two slices of cake at £4.95 each and a Fanta. The scone was delicious, straight out of the oven, with Rodas cream and homemade jam. The tea was served in pots, however the milk was from small UHT pots, the type you would typically find in a travelodge. That I don’t find acceptable for a £12 cream tea in Cornwall. There are so many local dairy farms around, why am I being served ultra long life milk from a mass produced factory. The cakes were not worth the price. We didn’t feel like they had a homemade taste. Overall the cottage is quirky, the garden is nice, and the owners are very welcoming and kind. The scones are delicious, however some real improvements are necessary in order to justify the prices.

A magical place that is off the beaten track. The owners were so accommodating and helpful, and we ordered a traditional Cornish Cream tea in the garden, and it doesn't get much better than that. The huge scones were hand baked from the oven and piping hot. Jam and clotted cream were plentiful. We accompanied our scones with English breakfast tea. It's probably the largest scone I have ever had. But it was delicious and light... just make sure you go there hungry. A very pleasant afternoon's diversion. Parking is just north or south of the location. Accessibility may be a challenge for ability impaired, but there is a drop-offf point at the entrance.

Rude. Ignorant. Unwelcoming. Unfriendly. Genuinely awful.

I was on the path. Do not say I was in an unauthorised area. I’ve never been to the cafe before. Immediately inside the gate to the right hand side is a small concrete flat area. There is absolutely no indication it’s ‘not part of the tea room’. How on Earth would ANYBODY know you aren’t allowed to stand there if someone else is passing you at the gate???

My daughter moved onto the concrete area which was the only available area not in a bush away from an unknown large furry mutt coming towards us. This is completely reasonable to expect. It had been less than 5 seconds after we closed the gate. The area was not signed as unauthorised. It was a small cement square. There was no sign post. No health and safety warning.

Whilst you walked towards us with no welcome made, no greeting, just a surly demand that she get off the area. I explained the situation. She was always supervised! What a ridiculous thing to say.

You could have chosen to be polite, welcoming, smiled, anything other than the ignorant rude behaviour you displayed even after I’m trying to help the delivery gentleman who was at the gate at the same time and you have the audacity to tell me to mind the dog! Just unbelievable you think this type of insanely poor service is appropriate not only to a new customer but in front of a child.

Why would you be so horrible and uncaring. You...

Pretty Setting, But Major Safety Issues and Disappointing Food

The Blooming Tea Garden might look charming at first glance, but our experience left a lot to be desired.

First and foremost, the stairs leading to the seating area are genuinely unsafe. They’re steep, uneven, and lack proper support or handrails. It’s a serious hazard, especially for anyone with mobility issues or frankly, anyone not watching their step with extreme caution. It felt like an accident waiting to happen, and I’m surprised this hasn’t been addressed.

Unfortunately, the food didn’t make up for it. What we were served was bland, uninspired, and completely forgettable. For the prices charged, we expected much better both in terms of quality and creativity. It felt like the kitchen was going through the motions without much care.

This place might be fine if you're only looking for a scenic photo opportunity, but if you're after good food and a safe, comfortable experience, I’d recommend...
