I really want to rate it higher because it used to be great, but it seems to be getting worse each time we visit. Food is good when it's good, but is increasingly hit and miss, and it's expensive, so should be better. The service these days is glacial and begrudging, no matter what day or time you visit it always feels they are unprepared to be serving customers, with too few staff and those you can see ignoring you. It's very easy to wait 15 minutes to be served and an hour for your food. Last time we visited we had finished our drinks and sat waiting for over 40 minutes for the food to accompany it. We like to support local businesses and have been regularly buying their coffee for over a year but I am particularly frustrated that no matter how many times we asked for coffee to be ground for a stove top espresso kettle we get blank stares as though I've made it up and am wasting their time. One would have thought a company who prided itself on being an artisan coffee roaster would know what this is. Seems like all this could be solved with more staff and better training, but it doesn't seem to be happening. It's a shame, but time to look...

A gem tucked away at Tonedale Mills. One of the very few places locally serving breakfasts at the weekend that also welcomes dogs. As a result there is a loyal following; other places like Sheppeys Cafe and Rumwell Farm shop should take note. It was so good we went back twice in one day bringing another group with us. The breakfast Fry Up was huge, delicious, coffee great and the cakes in the afternoon were good too. The only negative was that the all day brunches stopped serving at 2.15pm while the cafe stayed open until 4pm and it only said it in tiny print on the side of the menu. The large young men in our return group were hoping for food, so had cake instead. However, this is a fantastic place, worth seeking out and I hope it's there to stay. Best to book a table as it is busy from...

Really disappointing experience, service was very poor, 2 girls working there were absolutely not interested in serving customers and they looked like they would rather to be somewhere else. We went to the counter to order hot drinks and cakes ( cakes not labeled and when we asked what sort of cake are they girl started from " I think its ...."). We where lucky and we didn't have to wait long , people next to us were waiting 15 minutes before waitress came to take their order. Place was not busy at all , only 4 tables were occupied. Hot drinks and cake served without napkins or sugar , we had to go and ask for a sugar - waitress "kindly" gave us 3 little sachets of sugar. Cake was tasty but service is not acceptable and please fix a leaking roof. I don't...

Went to this cafe on route back to london from Cornwall after looking for somewhere to stop with good coffee and brunch options! Was so impressed with the coffee and brunch we got! Both really enjoyed a flat white and Americano and the food of avocado egg toast and banana bread were also wicked! We also picked up some fresh sourdough which they bake on site The atmosphere in the cafe was also super nice and chilled and you can tell this place is a favourite for locals! The price is also very reasonable (cheap compared to lodnon cafes of this standard!) Very impressed and would 100% plan a coffee/food stop around this cafe again!

I really care about my coffee and my goodness this was damn fine coffee! More than that, the food was excellent and clearly prepared with love. We loved the bibimbap (it tasted as authentic as I’ve had) and the £4 bacon sandwich was good quality. Children’s toys were very helpful, and the cafe garden is lovely too. Thank you, Brazier! An aside to the kitchen: the food and coffee were so good that we visited on consecutive days; please ask whoever was prepping food on Wednesday not to smother everything in the bibimbap in sriracha; every other day was perfect!
