We came here on our way from Plymouth to Bodmin, just popped in to get something quick not expecting much and then the food arrived and wow it was the best full English I’ve ever had. Every item was cooked perfectly (beans in a separate pot is a big plus point) and all the items individually were really high quality. The bacon was crispy, the toast was done perfectly, sausages were juicy…it was all absolutely spot on. The waitress was really friendly too (I didn’t catch her name - short girl with glasses) and the atmosphere of the diner was really unique. We enjoyed this one so much that on our way home from Plymouth to Southampton we stopped at the Exeter Brightside the day after and I had the exact same meal which was just as delicious. Honestly it’s not just good for a roadside diner it’s better than most restaurant breakfasts I’ve had. 10/10 - can’t fault it.

Really impressed with this place. They have done a good job on the decor and the lighting and seating. The staff have got the customers needs down to a T. They offer free bottled water either sparkling or still. The place is really clean and tidy and was busy in the evening. We even got a discount and did not pay for the kids meals as they have offers all the time. Great location where Route 38 used to be. The area manager was there and I spoke to her briefly, it’s clear she has the customers needs as a top priority. The kids drawing sheet is really good. There is also charge points for your devices as the restaurants are on main roads through the West Country. There are electric hook up points for cars outside at the shell garage so makes it a good stop off.

Loved everything. It’s been decorated so well makes it feel authentic. I have been searching for good American pancakes and syrup, no one seems to make them as good as they do in America, until tonight. I have autism and like my food a certain way and they smashed it. Best pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. My friend enjoyed the egg breakfast. Reasonable price, nice staff, got a big booth all to ourselves. I drive past there every week so will definitely be back soon. And my friend is going to work her way through the menu. The food and atmosphere is so much better than the Route diner that used to be at that location

Absolutely wonderful. We as a family have always visited route38 on birthdays (and any other excuse) my daughter and I came this morning for her 15th birthday breakfast and we were blown away by the amazing decor, amazing service and amazing food. Every little detail is nostalgic even down to the plates but it doesn't feel tacky it feels like going back in time travelling with my grandparents. The service we received was outstanding everyone was smiling and so thoughtful we'd come back just for that alone. The food was delicious my daughter had the brightside breakfast which as fussy as she can be at times, she was delighted with 'they've seasoned the tomatoes perfectly' her words I've never seen her so excited about tomatoes! I had the pancakes, syrup and bacon and it was perfect light fluffy American pancakes, crispy streaky bacon, sweet syrup dusted with powdered sugar presented beautifully on gorgeous retro style plates. The lemonade coolers again were just delicious we tried both the raspberry and passio fruit and couldn't decide which was tastier! We paid our bill only to be then given 2 chocolate sundaes as a birthday treat on the house. Thankyou guys so much you really made her morning so special. We will be recommending you to anyone that will listen and will be returning as...

We came for food today for my son's 18th birthday, well what a disappointment, service wasn't great, the food was awful, waste of £65, I asked for original coca cola, was given a glass of cheap cola that clearly had sweeteners in, ordered a latte instead, that was awful, latte is supposed to be a milky coffee, it was so strong even my partner thought it was awful and yes im a trained barista so know what coffee is supposed to be like, we saw our food on the side waiting to be brought to our table, we waited, we waited some more, when it was finally brought over it was lukewarm, my son's and partners burger was so greasy they both felt sick afterwards, I had a chicken burger and there was more bun than any filling, it was the smallest chicken breast I have ever seen, we all had about 10 chips each on the plate that were cold because it had been sat there so long waiting to be brought to our table, my 2 yr olds fish fingers and chips were awful, the fish fingers were greasy, over cooked and rubbery, portions were so small and to top it off, dogs were allowed in, 🤢🤮, whatever happened to food and hygiene, I do not want to eat any food with the smell of wet dog wafting past, needless to say we won't be...

I Visited today 22/11 with my partner and daughter I used to visit myself quite often through the year a few years back when it was route 38. Due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to come down in recent years due to personal reasons. We looked online and saw route 38 had gone but decided to visit Brightside anyway, for my daughters 2nd birthday. we are so glad we ate there tonight. as the food was beautiful and piping hot when it arrived. There was also a good selection to choose from. I would also love to mention a member of staff called Ava, she made sure that my 2 year old was occupied with colouring and reading. She was also very helpful with recommendations she asked multiples times how everything was, to make sure it was all okay. upon leaving the restaurant Ava again checked everything was okay, and gave my daughter a parting gift. She was so very thoughtful and it was such a nice gesture. I work as a manager in a customer service role for a large entertainments company, and I can say now I would be so happy if all our staff were like Ava. I will be recommending Brightside to any who mentions they will be visiting Cornwall I will also be revisiting for breakfast before our 300 mile drive...
