Windy Ridge sits a mere 8 miles from Looe and it’s a lovely drive out into the countryside. We were told about this place and decided to try it out and we were not disappointed. It’s highly recommended to call in advance and book make a reservation.

A party of four. One had the teriyaki chicken, another the seafood basket and the other two the Sunday carvery.

The presentation of the set meals were of the highest standard and reported as being wholesome tasty and filling.

The carvery was exceptional, with a three meat costing a mere £15.95. I cannot attest to other reviews that the slices of meat were thick but they were plentiful with a host of vegetables and condiments to accompany them.

Apart from the set menu the establishment presents daily deals and offers for all patrons. The one I’m most looking forward to is the fish and chips, which looked fantastic. You can bag yourself two, yes two lots for £16 on Fridays after 12 noon. Far better the £20 per portion you’ll pay at Kelly’s fish bar in Looe. You can read my review about that establishment on here.

The establishment also has a fully stocked bar serving alcohol and soft drinks for the little ones.

The service was exceptional with every member of staff polite respectful and helpful to all dinners and a credit to the establishment.

The atmosphere was electric with a whole number of guests both young and old being catered for simultaneously. The seating arrangement is one on the best you’ll find in any restaurant with ample spacing between tables so you’re not squashed into a little area and involved in the next tables conversation. In conjunction with a great view out over the hills.

Windy Ridge also has an outside eating area and a small play area for the little ones, however there were concerns about that. There are three main drains in the play area with exposed concrete that could pose a potential hazard should your little trip over. My recommendation to Windy Ridge would be to cover them with play mats but there were not accidents on our visit.

But all in all 10/10 and highly...

We've been here a few times and its usually pretty decent but today was poor so we may not go back again. The two staff we interacted with today were nice. There was however a lot of flies inside the venue that were constantly bothering us while we were sat. Really not nice when you're trying to relax and the venue was so hot and stuffy I had to crack a window open next to our table. The food wasn't as good as usual either unfortunately. The burger was overcooked and the lasagne was pretty rubbish today, it didn't look or taste appealing although the onion rings, coleslaw, and chicken burger were all still good. A member of staff came over with a fly swatter, spraying fly killer right next to where we were sat while we were eating/drinking which wasn't very thoughtful and my wife told her she had asthma just to get her to stop as my son was still eating his food. Another table nearby asked to be moved because of the files as was so off-putting. I understand some will come in through the open windows and I'm not bothered that staff are spraying them but it shouldnt really be done next to people that are eating. Hopefully it will be better if we do decide to go back there again as it has gotten gradually worse the last few...

Went 2 weeks ago for a treat my husband & I. We went about 13:00 waited to be seated as restaurant was not full there was another 8 diners sat down, as normally we can choose where to sit as both of us have hip disabilities so we normally ask to sit on a larger table, this was ignored by the them/they oldish person with short hair and glasses who wasn't at all, a pleasant person and needs to go on a training program as to 'hospitality' with customer service. She put us on a very small table where I kept getting bumped when people went past. The plates have got smaller and the prices have gone up alot. Last week we chose to go to the opposition Brightside the former Route 38, which was full but accommodated our needs, service with a smile bigger plates and alot more friendlier atmosphere, service with a smile. A smile and great service...

Five of us ate here today. All of us thought the food was excellent, and we all had different meals from a large breakfast to lasagne, scampi to burger with goats cheese and a carvery. A few also had some home made Baileys cheesecake too and that was also excellent. The portion sizes were also very good (the pics show a small portion scampi) and we all left stuffed and happy. The bill was £60 for 5 mains and 3 desserts (not including drinks) ...great value too. Highly recommended.

I lovely breakfast at the Windy Ridge, lovely to sit outside wonderful view not too far from the coast. Plenty of parking climbing frames for the kids. Lovely friendly service. Breakfast was delicious not greasy and serve with a smile. Will definitely go back to try more on the menu, if I can get past the breakfast option, fully recommend very happy. Hope you have a good as experience as me.👍
