From walking into the pub with a lovely warm feeling, Beautifully decorated for the festive season and cosy without being crushed. The decorations are stunning and very welcoming indeed. Myself and 2 guests were shown to our reserverved table and allowed to read the menu without feeling rushed. Having decided on what we wanted to eat, myself and 1 guest went to the bar to order, she for the drinks, and myself for the meal. There were a few others at the bar but we didn't have to wait to be served and again felt welcomed. The bar staff were helpful and able to exchange a little conversation, which is nice compared to places where bar staff can be a little aloof and reluctant to smile in some, not here though. I had asked that the fish of one of the meals be well cooked and we were asked which vegetable we wanted. We were back at the table and having a good old chin wag, and the meal came for the 3 of us piping hot and on hot plates. Sadly, this is something a lot of pubs and restaurants forget about, and hot food chills down very quickly. Not so at the Broughton Arms, the plates are always hot! The fish which was well cooked was lovely, it was mine, and I really dislike wet fish, this was beautiful and the batter light and crispy, my guests were very pleased with their meals and have said they will certainly come back again. After finishing our meal, the assistant came and cleared our plates away and again was able to exchange pleasantries about the snow which had fallen the night previously. We sat there for about a further 10 minutes and then went to pay. The staff again were very helpful and wished us well, and hoped to see us again. I can say that The Broughton Arms will certainly see us again! Thank you for a lovely meal and the welcome. 10/10 and...

Itâs a lovely little place, got in no problem, the food was absolutely amazing and not too badly priced, they do do vouchers and I did have one but was unable to use it as the food I ordered wasnât on the mains menu. There is a good selection of food and all that I saw come past me looked and smelled amazing. We only had to wait about 20 minutes for the food to arrive, my daughter had scampi and chips and I did ask for no tartare sauce but it still came with it (no big issue as it was in a little pot) and I had a Philly steak baguette with onions and both dishes came with fries. Absolutely amazing, food red hot and a good amount to say it came off the lunch menu. My daughter loved her scampi and fries and peas - which I was happy about and I loved mine also. So why the 4 stars and not 5? The staff lacked something. Iâm not sure if they were understaffed or not but they didnât have time to talk to ANYBODY, not me, not an old guy who asked for a half of his favourite. The staff were constantly on the move (probably not their fault) and even when me and my daughter left we didnât even get a âgoodbyeâ or âThankyouâ which youâd normally receive from other restaurants or bars or any shop that sells something. It wouldnât put me off going again and Iâd highly recommend it but canât give it 5 stars and rank it with my other favourite 5 star restaurants. *also a lovely little canal out the back with narrow boats moored up,...

But, for a 4pm Sunday booking, to have no roast dinner option was very disappointing. I ordered a vegetarian option, cauliflower cheese tart, which when it eventually arrived looked dry and like it been bought from Lidl or even somewhere cheaper! It was neither very cauliflowery or cheesy! However the meal came with gravy! Was it vegetarian gravy? Donât know. The food took so long to arrive we considered leaving and going somewhere else. We all agreed that next time, we will.
Addendum⊠To reply to the response below from the Brought Arms, we arrived at 4pm, the pub and restaurant are were both virtually empty. I saw that was the case because we were initially seated in the restaurant area with a clear view of outside, before being moved into the bar as I had my dog with me. There was NO ONE in the restaurant area at that time and a couple tables occupied outside. At 5pm? Only a few people had come in. While you may been busy earlier in the day, to claim it was busy at the time we were there is simply not true. And if the pub were as busy as you claim, while the wait could have been excused, it is still NO excuse for sub standard food and serving gravy with a vegetarian meal. The star rating is still deserved. Oh, and while Iâm at it, a proper apology would have been better welcomed than a defensive response full of excuses...
