Friendly bar service with sensible drinks prices. Surprisingly there was only one lady running the bar and taking food orders, and as we discovered a little later, there was only one cook in the kitchen!!! Regrettably this meant that our food took over an hour to get to the table! When it did finally arrive it was better than the average pub meal - decent size portions, nice chips and the food was hot. Amazing service every time I'm there we order drinks when we go in then choose what we want (I suggest bacon and cheese potato skins for starters and the breaded chicken burger for main) and the starters take 10 mins with the mains taking a further 15 mins after that, the staff are super friendly and don't make a fuss about anything, food is better than some restaurants I've been to. Only real downsides are old decor, slightly more expensive food than other places (it is amazing food though) and I feel that staff are over run as the cook is the owner and its normally the barmaid as a waitress aswell (there is only 1 barmaid at a time I believe 2 are...

Woefully unprepared for the new 'eat out to help out' scheme. We booked a table a week in advance, but there were none in the garden as promised so we sat out in front of the pub instead. We then waited over an hour for food that ended up not materialising, first they ran out of ingredients, then the oven 'broke'. As a result our drinks were kindly refunded and we were offered a voucher, but as visitors to the area, we won't have a chance to use it. We were pretty surprised that it was the manager's night off on the monday of the government scheme and there was only 1 member of staff- they clearly underestimated the popularity...
