Hidden gem! Canteen really know how to do good food. The best roast we’ve had in Cornwall — packed with flavour, seasoned to perfection and in generous portions too.

We were grateful to leave with belly’s full and feeling energised too - rare after eating such a meal!

You have to visit this cosy and welcoming cafe, to eat good food and feel genuinely cared for. We loved the relaxed service, the canteen style community seating, and the way Paul and the wonderful crew went above and beyond to make sure our group of 20 were booked in, well fed and not rushed throughout. Big appreciation for the wood fired slow cooked smokey meat and veg, yum. The carrots! Wow. Also loved the Origin coffee served up in old school china mugs and the puds and cakes served up in epic portions. A real dose of nostalgia but delicious x

Other highlights include: being both dog and baby friendly, having a woodburner (though the cafe already feels perfectly warm) and a small stocked shop of essentials — good wine, chocolate and coffee.

Canteen are excellent, hands down excellent. We have eaten at Mount Hawke/ Eco- Park/ festivals and most recently the woodfired team catered our wedding. The food is always outstanding, they cater beautifully for allergies, staff are friendly and accommodating at all times. We have had so many compliments on our wedding food and how Amy, Chloe, Ben and team made people feel so welcome and cared for- the slow cooked lamb was a particular hit!

We cannot thank Amy enough for all her work in the lead up to our wedding and the team for going above and beyond to make our day so special. Nothing was too big an ask.

Gorgeous spot with plenty of natural light and a relaxed vibe. Dogs are welcome. The roast menu is a highlight, with tender meats from the smoker and roasted squash that's full of flavour. The roast potatoes are surprisingly juicy and a real standout. I felt the portion size was incredible for the price of the roast.
