Was really looking forward to our stay. Unfortunately, there were several problems. The room we stayed in has curtains which were too small so people can see in and out of both the room and toilet - right next to a walkway to other rooms. The staff seemed reluctant to believe us until they came to see for themselves. There were no other rooms available so the only way to continue in the room was for them to put bedsheets over the curtains to cover the gaps. Not the most elegant way to spend the night, but the only available. They offered for us to have a free drink at the bar while they did so.

Additionally, the room was not as clean as expected, with hairs in the shower and on top of the bed. The shower walls has some mould, but nothing worrisome. However, when using the shower, you will inevitably spill water on the bathroom floor since there was no door or curtains, only a very small glass wall. This was made worse as there were no matts or other towels to put on the floor. The mugs they gave were covered in fluff/dust and some other crusty specks of something. We had to clean them ourselves before using them. They also did not have a water bottle as customary in hotels, and we had to use the sink tap to make tea.

The pool and breakfast were nice, which was the only upside of the stay. We also saw the gym which seemed good although we did not use it.

When we complained about the cleanliness of the room the next day, the staff member was dismissive and suggested that it was because we booked the cheapest room (Ā£110 for 1 night), to which I said we were not complaining about the room being small but about the cleaning standards of a place that supposably prides itself on its luxury. Even another guest who was at reception when we were complaining about the room spoke to us and said we were completely right to complain and this had nothing to do with how cheap the room was. Not a great look and again, not the standards we were expecting. When we were already outside and in the process of leaving, the staff member gave us a card and asked for us to email them our concerns, which I will do after this review.

I would like to note that while most of the staff we spoke to was dismissive and not to par with our expectations, the gentleman that put curtains on our windows was nice and understanding, a...

PHOTOS SHOW OUR ACTUAL EXPERIENCE - Judge for yourself

ROOM CATEGORY ISSUE: We booked ā€œStandard Double Room with Private Bathroomā€ but received what appeared to be their ā€œCosy Doubleā€ room which their website describes as ā€œbest suited to single occupancyā€ and significantly smaller (9m² vs 17m²).

ROOM CONDITIONS WE ENCOUNTERED: • Room contained dog hair throughout • Bathroom had various maintenance issues (photos attached) • Cleanliness standards did not meet our expectations i.e. hairs in sink plug • Several fixtures appeared damaged or in poor repair with the shower leaking across bathroom floor • Found toilet brush in bathroom in unhygienic condition • Wall paint flaking directly along where bed sits

MEAL EXPERIENCE: Hotel offered to ā€œcover our evening mealā€ as compensation for room issues, but we were charged Ā£60 at the end despite being told it was covered. This felt misleading. Dog friendly extended to having the pets of fellow guests sitting around our table whilst eating - spoilt what was nice meal.

Breakfast buffet was at best truckers cafe standard.

ALTERNATIVE ROOM OFFERED: Second room shown had limited ventilation (window wouldn’t open) and was directly on the main walkway with no privacy. Bathroom smelt of dog urine. We declined this option.

Settled for room being cleaned, no other choice, which took away more of our holiday time waiting.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: The conditions we encountered were significantly below what we expected for the price paid (Ā£145.20). Photos document exactly what we experienced.

BOOKING PLATFORM RESPONSE: Our complaint resulted in a £21.78 goodwill gesture from the booking platform, which we felt was inadequate given the issues encountered.

RECOMMENDATION: I would suggest viewing recent photos from actual guests before booking. Our experience was very different from what we expected based on the listing. Spoilt what was a lovely week...

On a weeks AL,and exploring more of the county we live in.Booked this hotel last minute and in hindsight, was not a good fit for us personally.Firstly there is ample free parking.Others have mentioned parking was very limited? Not sure how,the carpark is very big.Always a plus in Cornwall.Check in process was quick and easy, friendly member of staff showed us to our room. Our room was very small, with the double bed pushed up against the wall. This is never ideal is it?It meant whoever gets the wall side has to climb over their partner during the night if they need to visit the toilet, and no where to put a drink next to you,or your phone etc.No bed lamps in this room either, which also is not ideal. No chairs/table as the room just is'nt big enough.Window very low down too, pretty much floor level.I'm a petite female and had to stoop down to see the partial view.Bathroom was fine, with nice toiletries. We walked down to the ocean, really expecting to see a sandy beach. There is'nt one.Other reviewers have posted pics of a beach, its not here.We asked the lady working at the NT carpark, she pointed down towards the ocean. We walked down....define beach? All we could see was pebbles...followed by big rocks then the ocean. The hotel is about a 20 min walk to St Just.Several pubs/cafes there.Breakfast was ok.Its not cooked to order. You basically help yourselves to a buffet. We arrived at 8am (we had an event to attend)and everything was put our fresh then.No complaint from us re the quality of the food.However....there were also golfers (many)also having b/fast at the same time, and it was very noisy. So noisy we gave up trying to hear eachother over the noise. So if you're looking for a nice quiet relaxed b/fast,this is'nt the place.I'm sure others will find the hotel fine, but sadly it just was'nt for us.Wrong location and hotel.Would we stay here again? No.The pool looked very nice but we...

What am amazing place to come. The location is so remote and scenic, the only word for it is stunning. Hugging the coast with such amazing views of the sea, the mornings and evenings watching the sun go over the horizon is just stunning. The venue itself is so clean and well maintained with all members of staff being so welcoming and polite, always willing to help and advise with whatever you had to ask. The room we stayed in was very well looked after with everything you could need during your stay, the decor was really in keeping with the location and was quiet and cosy. We frequented the restaurant on site most evenings and were very impressed with the foods available, with it all being locally sourced and cooked beautifully. Getting to the venue is certainly an interesting experience but so worth the journey, if you drive be prepared to go up against a hedgerow or two and the road is a single track. A huge shout out and masses of praise to Zena, Amelia and Robyn who we felt went above and beyond what would be expected of them in their roles and who really made the overall stay a memorable one in their own unique ways, can’t thank all the members of the team enough though, we were lucky enough to meet the owner who is such a warm and kind gentleman. Cannot recommend a visit to the CCC enough

What a surprise this little gem is! Awesome setting and incredibly well kept greens. The staff aren’t as experienced and up to date with other courses I’ve played. That said, they were extremely helpful and amended anything that needed redoing. The prices are fair and the view is amazing. Best environment I’ve enjoyed when playing golf. On a windy day though becomes more of a challenge. The facilities like the pool and what they call a spa/gym are very basic and extremely untidy. Though we had the entire pool to ourselves at a very good price, you could tell that it had not been cleaned or checked before we used it. The changing rooms really let it down. Golf 5* Spa 3*
