Family of 5 with 3 children under 9. We had been on the train from Bolton Abbey to Embsay and thought it would be nice to try a local pub for some lunch to make a bit more of the trip. The pub is a couple of minutes walk round the corner from the station and we were made to feel very welcome when we went in, the lady behind the bar was very friendly. Good options for children, basically smaller versions of the mein menu but with added beans/peas (perfect for my kids)! Food itself was delicious, fish and chips was excellent and the homemade burger was great. We would have had something from the pudding menu but ran out of time before the next train. We will definitely come back again when...

We have been going to Cavendish Arms for around 18 years - every year around Christmas time. When the children were young it was always combined with a ride on Santa’s train (Embsay steam train). Many times combined with a browse round Skipton Christmas market. Other times - like this year - purely for the pleasure of the warm welcome, with a big, genuine smile, from owner Leigh, for the extensive, interesting menu, and the excellently cooked dishes using local produce. Not to forget the lovely ales, good choice of wines, and hot mulled wine - always necessary in the cold December weather! It has become a family tradition and long may it continue! Thanks Leigh and the staff at...

We visited here as a group of 13. Luckily we booked tables well in advance as the staff said we wouldn’t have got in if we’d just turned up (I was chatting to them about booking in advance which is why it was brought up). The orders were taken in a timely manner and all 13 meals were served at the same time and were piping hot. Good planning from the kitchen and waiting staff to manage this. The food was lovely and everyone enjoyed it, even the fussy eaters.

The drinks were good too.

We visited earlier on the afternoon for a pint and there is ample outside seating for when the...

Really friendly welcome! Arrived in the area and tried a couple of places en route, all busy or closed. On the off chance rang ahead and they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Table booked with ease, food was served quickly and was delicious, with good sized portions. All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Told we were very welcome to park overnight in the campervan and woke to a babbling brook in the morning. Highly recommended.

Called it just for some lunch on a Sunday. Just managed somewhere to sit. Which is a good sign. Ordered drinks and food. lovely friendly staff our drinks arrived quickly and the food about 15 mins later which is just right saying how busy they are. We both ordered scampi and chips with garden peas. We both thought where excellent quality and cheese cake for afters 10/10 for food proper pub grub. If I'm in the area again will be back.
