Family of 5 with 3 children under 9. We had been on the train from Bolton Abbey to Embsay and thought it would be nice to try a local pub for some lunch to make a bit more of the trip. The pub is a couple of minutes walk round the corner from the station and we were made to feel very welcome when we went in, the lady behind the bar was very friendly. Good options for children, basically smaller versions of the mein menu but with added beans/peas (perfect for my kids)! Read moreWe have been going to Cavendish Arms for around 18 years - every year around Christmas time. When the children were young it was always combined with a ride on Santa’s train (Embsay steam train). Many times combined with a browse round Skipton Christmas market. Other times - like this year - purely for the pleasure of the warm welcome, with a big, genuine smile, from owner Leigh, for the extensive, interesting menu, and the excellently cooked dishes using local produce. Luckily we booked tables well in advance as the staff said we wouldn’t have got in if we’d just turned up (I was chatting to them about booking in advance which is why it was brought up). The orders were taken in a timely manner and all 13 meals were served at the same time and were piping hot. Good planning from the kitchen and waiting staff to manage this. The food was lovely and everyone enjoyed it, even the fussy eaters.
