In the quite area of cambois where you usually expect nothing, lies a quaint little facility once known as the buccaneer, an old pub now pleasantly revived and providing a lovely atmosphere.
The interior was that of a simplistic and warm vibe, the only slight downside was just simple housekeeping, with some placemats dirty and a few dead flies on the windowsill, a good roundhouse clean and check in the morning would sufficiently fix this issue.
Where the visit was enhanced was from the food, now were not talking gastro pub gourmet here, it plays to happy, warm and classic food, and on a Sunday this facility definitely hit points.
I had the soup to start, a lentil and bacon, and there was no shed of water downed processed product in sight, this was real i am thick homemade soup and it was moorish indeed, i indulged in a little bit of the pate aswell and that too was ideal
The Sunday dinner mains cane and i was a shock, the plate was piled and plenty of food which is great for a big appetite, and they did not crimp on the trimmings indeed!
Was a shock to find out that these meals were efficiently cheap aswell, with the starters at £2 a dish and £7.99 a Sunday dinner ( £1 extra for lamb ).
Overall a great experience and the minor cleanliness issues can be overlooked easily...
Read moreBooked a table in advance for 5. When we arrived the staff looked totally lost when I said we had booked, there was no tables available so we waited until one became vacant once we sat down there was no menu to choose a meal eventually the waitress took our order for starters and mains after a long wait we were given the starters…NO CUTLERY had to find some at the bar. We then waited quite a long time for someone to remove the dishes and bring our main courses guess what NO CUTLERY again we had to wait for member of staff passing to ask. Once again a long wait before the table was cleared and was told to order the sweet course at the bar but after attempting that staff member came to the table to complete the order after another eternity the sweets arrived BUT guess what NO CUTLERY once again we had to find a member of staff to get some spoons by this time it was over one and a half hours after our booked time to receiving the sweet course The food was very nice, it’s the lack of service that needs addressing staff...
Read moreI don't like leaving bad reviews, and usually give places the benefit of the doubt but my experience here was awful. We visited the cafe after a trip to the beach. Our order was taken and after 30-40 minutes with no sign of anything coming out of the kitchen, I asked if it would be long and was told 15-20 minutes. After an hour, I asked if the food was being cooked because if not, we would ask for a refund and go elsewhere. I was assured that it was underway. It took an hour and a half for four plates of chips with cod bites to arrive. When my meal was delivered, the pie was ice cold in the middle and it was mince beef and not steak as I asked for. I had to get a refund. Very disappointing. I'm not sure if it was the length of time waiting, but everyone was cold and sitting in coats by the end, so I couldn't even give high marks for a...
