My family of four adults spent a most memorable four-day break during our first visit to the China Fleet Country Club, Saltash. The club is set in a spectacular, well maintained site on Cornish western bank of the River Tamar overlooking its Devon bank around the Tavy Rail Bridge. ||We were immediately made very welcome when greeted at the Reception Desk. Throughout our stay, we were all impressed by the pleasant professionalism of the club staff (Reception, House-keeping, Brasserie and Health Club who ensured proactively that we were enjoying our holiday. ||We were also most impressed by our Acorn Cottage’s furnishings, fittings and inventory of they were well thought-out and presented to a very high standard. The cottage proved to be ideal for our four-strong party but there may be some disadvantages if a fifth adult guest sleeps on the sofa bed in the living room.||We enjoyed our extensive hearty breakfasts especially sampling the diverse choices of the cooked breakfast ably supported by cheerful and hospitable waitresses.||We also enjoyed taking advantage of the diverse range of excellent health club facilities. as well as a very good selection of tasty cooked breakfasts to start the day.||We do not play golf so did not take advantage of the superb golf-course but our youngsters admired the spectacular views strolling around the Club's internal Nature/Fairy Trail. Instead we visited the nearby beaches and harbours around Whitsands Bay by car and took advantage of the subsidized Cornish rail-deals to travel from Saltash to St ives by train. ||The China Fleet Country Club is a hidden gem. We wished that we had known of it long before and look forward to revisiting...

All the staff I encountered were personable and knowledgeable. Ben Waters Golf and Estates Manager was incredibly helpful, from menu choices, rooming lists and booking the Crazy Golf ahead of our visit. Ben made a point of meeting me to check our visit had met expectations. TOTALLY EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. The course was a real challenge. Kept you focused. Nothing easy. The greens are well watered and lush! If you had to force me to make a negative comment there is no outdoor area to enjoy a drink as a group. But not a deal breaker. The only disappointing thing from the weekend was the Europe win! 😁 highly highly recommend for any golfing...
Read moreSadly we didn't stay, we planned a weeks holiday 2 weeks ago, our son is in the Navy so we wanted to take the opportunity to come down and spend some precious time with him, I phoned up and was quoted a Military Families price, for myself, hubby and our 28 yr old daughter, I decided to check prices on another site as it sounded expensive, it was actually £8 a NIGHT cheaper on a comparison website, on calling back to explain this, the lady was rude, and had a don't care attitude, wasn't willing to even match the price!! Honestly I found it disgusting that they use the MILITARY name for so called discount, that obviously isn't, added to there was no refund of deposit or money should the current situation change, we booked an Air B&B that was a LOT cheaper AND guarenteed full refund of monies should situation change. The abuse of the MILITARY name has angered me so much. Added to this as a NAVY Mum, we have a Facebook page, some of the mum's have lost deposits and money booking here due to changes in the situation and Navy changes which are not our fault, if you are going to profess to being a Military families establishment you need to understand how the military works, and to take deposits and money from Military families is nothing less than shameful. Bad reviews spread faster than good, and the Royal Navy are a tight knit family, at the moment people are advising not to bother with you, and that's killing you some weekly patrons as our children go through HMS Rayleigh and Pass Off. We come down to celebrate and be proud of our boys and girls NOT to get ripped off by you. Shameful abuse of the...
