Loved it ! Very friendly :-) I came here as a place to stay, not for the pub, found on Trivago, the room was perfect for a nights retreat to rest well, slept like a baby, very nice double bedroom, lovely bed linen & quality, warm coloured covers & cushions, TV (just positioned in the wrong place that's all!) En suite shower, very satisfied with, perfectly clean, parking nearby from front Street (payable within restricted hours but I was there on a Sunday & apparently only checked by warden on Wednesdays but wouldn't bank on it, in case changes!) Big enough Free car park out back accessible via back gate &/ alley. Breakfast was incredible !!! Very large plate of 2 of nearly everything, 2 eggs, 2 sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, 2 toast, choice of cereals & fruits juices, milk, first + a pot of tea or coffee ! Staff very happy, friendly & very accomodating ! Let me check out late at no extra charge because they didn't have anyone checking in after me & had a nice chat with the owner, chef & lady who works there who seems to perform a multitude of tasks & functions, such a cheerful lady ! Nice old pub, quite large with beams, the evening clientele seemed nice & local & there were a few down for breakfast, all very nice & for the lowest price I could find ! Very reasonable indeed for what you get ! Can't remember if I paid paid £47/57, think it was £47:50 or something through agent Expedia or ? But rooms direct are about £60 I think which is still not bad. No complaints, recommend & would love to return, nice village of Bentham in North West Yorkshire very close across the border...
Read moreWhilst visiting family in North Yorkshire, we decided to stay at the Coach House Inn which is situated in the picturesque large village of High Bentham. On arrival we were met by the owner of the establishment, Karl who is friendly and helpful. He showed us to our rooms which are lovely with tea and coffee making facilities a 32 inch flat screen TV and all the usual refinements found at larger more expensive hotels. The shower in the en-suite deserves a mention as it is probably powerful enough to put out a forest fire. Although the room is above the bar we never heard any customers or the usual bar noise whilst sleeping...... Now to the bar and restaurant. We ordered the garlic mushrooms which were piping hot and just the right amount of garlic on them as starters and for the main course I had the Rump steak and my wife had the macaroni cheese which were both tasty, perfectly cooked and presented well. The food was delivered to the table by Sarah who although is only16 years old was very mature and friendly and a credit to the manager. The locals are friendly as is normal in this part of the world and the rest of the staff are also worth a mention as they are all friendly, helpful and genuine without being too "in your face" Overall a lovely experience which I will definitely repeat when I am next...
Read moreWe stayed one night with friends, staff were warm and welcoming throughout our stay. There was a good choice menu, and the food was well prepared and plentiful. We all chose different things battered fish, meat pie, halumi and roast pepper burger all served with chips. My husband chose the chicken curry which he said was tasty, but it could have had a little more chicken in it. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean with everything you needed. Everyone in our party had a great nights sleep as the beds were super comfortable, all linen and towels were good quality too, with complimentary toiletries. Breatfast was of the continental variety, cereal, toast croissants, preserves, yoghurt, juice tea or coffee. Good for us as we needed to get back home. There was a very small amount of noise to be heard from the bar once we had retired but not enough to stop us sleeping and after all you are staying in rooms above a pub. We had a great stay, and would recommend it to anyone and would...
