Hoggs N Heifers — Restaurant in England

All started off reasonably well but then as it got busier, all the locals got served first. And towards the end of the night, we were clearly being ignored, to a point where we had been stood at the bar for half an hour, with locals coming in out of the rain being served straight away. In the end we had to split up to get served, and I eventually managed to order 2 pints. It was my pal’s round so I walked off with my drink and left him to pay. He hadn't noticed that I had walked off with my pint and he was then told that the bill was £9. When he went to pay, he was told there was a minimum card/phone transaction of £10! With such a faff he told them to forget it. Then, just as my pal sat down, the landlord came charging over and accused us of not paying for our drinks and said we need to leave! My pal explained what had happened, and the landlord went and got the card machine and accepted the £9 card transaction. We still had to then remind him to get my mate’s drink! Rather than accepting an honest mistake and poor bar service he still said he wanted us to leave after we'd finished! Despite their poor bar service, and aggressive over reaction, we were calm all the way through, and we didn’t need to be told to leave because there was absolutely no chance we would stay for another, nor ever go back again. Also, the wine was served in tumblers. ...

A dire experience. My friend and I were sat on the sofa, next to the fire (wood-burning stove). So far, so good. The barmaid appeared and proceeded to light the fire. Inexplicably, she lit it with empty crisp packets (the fire was stuffed with them.) I pointed out the fact that it was going to give off some nasty fumes - and (surprise, surprise, it did.) Almost immediately we moved to a table at the far end near the pool table. By the time we finished our drinks, the toxic fumes had penetrated the whole space. Combined with substandard ale - either poorly maintained or just pulled from the pipes - it was not a good visit. Sadly, there is no option to give zero or minus...

So I'm going to be honest here....what should of been a lovely family meal out (we don't have many a year due to the cost of living) we had booked in and everything was great, that is until my husband went to the bar. He said if they could turn down the air conditioning to the man behind the bar, the man was tall and bald said no and that it would mean all people would then be too warm as he said he was also warm without even thinking abiut the reason the request many have been asked. Now I have a very low immune system due to certain illnesses and being cold can cause me to become seriously ill quickly.
