First off.... we played in horrendously windy conditions which didn't lend itself to a great game of golf, but that's the only real bad point. Lovely course and very scenic. The greens were for the most part immaculate and whilst hilly in parts it never felt a slog. We had travelled quite a way to play there and were almost sent away as none of us had winter wheels on out trolleys. Not something I've ever come across at another course. The official let us play so long as we kept our trolleys on the light rough and off the fairways. We were told not to play off the fairway and instead to take a fairway mat or move the ball to the light rough from the fairway! I totally get looking after the course but you also have to be able to play golf. Unfortunately because of all the placing of matts and moving of balls our 4 ball wasn't the quickest round the course. In light of the pending covid closure I found it strange that we couldn't hit off the fairways as the course would have a month to repair! In closing the course is fantastic the pedantic rules kinda spoiled the...

I had a great time playing at Consett Golf Club recently. The course is really nice, with some challenging hills that keep things interesting. The fairways are well-kept and the greens are in excellent condition, which made for a smooth game. There are some stunning holes with great views, especially the ones with elevated greens—like the 18th, which I was surprised to par!

The only downside was that the pro shop was closed when I played on Sunday. But the lady behind the bar was really helpful. She got me a scorecard and pointed me in the right direction for the first tee and practice areas.

All in all, it was a great round of golf, and I’d definitely recommend checking out Consett Golf Club if you’re up for a bit of a challenge. I'd happily return in the future for a few...

Just referencing the review from Jake Bradley. I played directly behind him and I am a member. This would happen at most clubs as there was a competition in front and behind. The error for which we apologise is the booking was put in at the wrong place/time which placed Jake in a slow round with little chance of playing through. The members are not being arrogant but a visitor would not get preference over a competition at most courses. Hopefully Jake will give us another chance so we can get him a proper slot. I would be happy to play a round with him also if he needed a playing partner to show him around the course. From a member...

Course in terrible condition (30/3) in places it was more of a mud bath than anything else, even puddles on greens. Members we spoke to said it shouldn’t be open. Nothing mentioned when checking in other than mats on fairways and winter wheels on trolleys, not even a mention of a winter green in the middle of a fairway either. Wasn’t an enjoyable round or experience and probably wouldn’t return in all honesty.

Great test of golf. Challenging and would be better for playing a second time when you know where to hit the ball. The course is on a valley side; hence many sloping fairways. Very difficult in the wind - it was 20mph gusting to 40 when we played. The clubhouse has spectacular views over the 18th and the valley with North Pennines beyond. Access road is tight and visitor parking on steep slope.
