Lovely lake, interesting menu, lovely building and the kitchen is clearly skilled. But despite being friendly, the service is glacial. In a not very busy restaurant, it took a few minutes to be brought a menu, and then it was just vague. We were sat 50 minutes before we got fed.. even the emergency orange juice, ordered to stop a hypoglycaemic episode, simply didn't arrive until I nagged. Then.. I literally watched our waiter forget that we'd asked for vinegar..and look embarrassed when he remembered. It took 30 seconds to forget anything we asked. Wanted a desert, but frankly, it was such a fail. Menus brought again, then ignored. So, we forgot about desert, and I went to the till to pay, rather than sit and wait a bit more. Clearly aimed at ladies who lunch and want to spend three hours over it. It was my girl's birthday, told them at booking...got plopped on the only table behind a wall. Just sad and disappointing... won't be back. Not recommended unless you are a) not hungry and b) have lots and LOTS of time.

So we have been married for 4 years and without fail we will go back to our wedding reception location, Box End Park, Corner 5 restaurant every year to celebrate not only our wedding but the birth of our two children and our birthdays all withing 2 months.. Never ever do the staff and food let you down. We had beer, wine, champagne, fizzy juice, beautiful starters, mains and desserts and to be honest nowhere in Bedfordshire would provide a better setting with the lake and sun set. We have two children under 3 years old so we don't get out much. But Corner 5 restaurant really go the extra mile to make you happy. We have had our wedding reception and 30th birthday parties here in the main function room, as well as meals out and we have never, ever been anything but overjoyed by the level of attention to detail and beautiful food. If you want the best experience speak to Adrian and his wonderful team. Thanks again guys, Jess and I couldn't speak high enough of your staff, food and loyalty x

Came here for a Work Christmas dinner. It was my first time coming here, it is beautiful decorated with Christmas-themed items and trees and the place itself has a very nice and peaceful ambience. We had ordered all our meals weeks in advance from the Christmas menu. They had plenty of options and you can choose from 2 courses or 3 courses. To pre-book a table in advance, it was Ā£10 per person, but this gets deducted from the final bill. The food was delicious and although the portions don’t look big, the meals were very heavy. Well worth the money and I would definitely come here again in the summer time so that I can see more of the view of Box End Park. There is also plenty of parking on the premises which is free.

I was a guest at my Goddaughters 10th Birthday "party", sadly the "party" atmosphere was ruined by the staff stating (in front of the birthday girl) that they "dont do parties" and we had not been allocated anywhere to sit inside, as the restaurant was closed. When question about this, one member of staff with a real attitude said "we're doing you a favour by staying open and the chefs have had to stay on after lunch to cook your food". As were not allowed to sit in the restaurant (because it had to be set up for dinner service in 3 hourse time), we were offered the use of the outside dining space or bar area which was small and not suitable. This caused extreme upset to my Goddaughter and her parents, who had been reassured the "party" was booked, as food had been ordered in advance for 20 people, at some expense! Instead of being grateful for our custom, the so called manager accused my friend of upsetting her staff because she had got cross about their attitude and the situation (rightly so on such a special occasion). The fact that we had been there the year before without any issues and had been allowed to sit in the restaurant was dismissed and the manager didn't seem to care. The waiting staff stood around in the restaurant whilst we hurriedly pulled tables and chairs together outside, no-one offered to help. It was so windy that the special balloons that were meant to have been placed on the table had to be left inside. The entire waiting team remained in the restaurant chatting and socialising throughout our visit, which just led to further annoyance, as there was no real reason why we couldn't have sat inside. We were given a time to return the outside tables for dinner service, so what was the difference? I cannot review the food as i did not eat any for dietary reasons (pizza, chips, nachos), although it looked nice. Considering there are other reviews on this venue stating they've had parties here, makes me even more angry at how my Goddaughter and her family were treated. If the booking was going to cause such an issue for the staff, then it should never have been taken. I hope the staff of corner5 are happy with their behaviour, you ruined what sould have been a special...

We had attended many parties here at Corner 5 with welcoming staff, nice atmosphere & good food. Unfortunately, the most recent visit was appalling at our daughters 10th birthday, which was supposed to be a happy & memorable day as especially turning double digits for her birthday, which made her feel very sad.

We will NOT be returning.

Our party had also been left with disappointment as how we had been treated that day.

We will be sharing our experience to family & friends to be warned of the service that you may THINK you'll receive vs what you'll actually receive on the day!

We would like to add to the comments made via Corner 5 reply.

We had a party booked for our 10 year daughters birthday party as previously attended before with no problem. Unfortunately, they did not provide the service on the day. We had taken a birthday cake for our daughter in the restaurant pre party & the staff glady received it & birthday balloons, so the staff clearly knew that we had prebooked our party.

We had tried to communicate with your manager on the day & she was not interested in the slightest. Therefore, we felt it helpful for other people wishing to dine in a restaurant to think twice.

You had accused us of being rude. How did it feel when one of your staff said in front of our daughter there is no party booked for our daughters birthday when all family & friends stood waiting to be seated. We don't think for a minute our behaviour was disgusting. The behaviour of the staff was totally unprofessional.

You hadn't bothered to contact us to reason & reassure us so we could console our very upset daughter. You just added salt to the wounds & barred...

Yesterday my husband and I visited Corner 5. It all started to go wrong when we waited almost 30mins for someone to take our drinks and food order. I had to go in and ask someone to please take our order.

My husband ordered a pizza and I the chicken salad with chunky chips. I specifically asked for no feta as I am allergic and was told that would be fine. Another 30 mins later the food arrives with feta so had to go back in to tell them I’m allergic. They also forgot the chips I ordered which l had to ask for again. They brought fries instead of the chunky chips ordered. Another lady comes in and asks me whether I told them I was allergic which was rather annoying. I’m allergic so of course I told them. To be honest they didn’t even ask us before showing us to the table whether any of us had any allergies which all other restaurants do. I could have died. There was no real apology for the mistake whatsoever. Their mistake could have been incredibly dangerous.

New salad arrived and there was no dressing. No flavour and chicken was dry. I ended up leaving very disappointed. The pizza my husband had was tasty.

Worst of all no one came to check with us if the food was all ok considering the problems we had. We waited for a long time again and had to go in to request the bill. We asked the gentleman at the bar to remove the service charge as we felt we received no service at all but he even didn’t care why. He just said no problem and gave us the bill.

Overall really disappointed. It’s such a shame because it’s a...
