This is no longer a bakery. The baker retired, these people sold the ovens for scrap metal and now sell frozen braces bread from newport. Buy this from the supermarket, its fresher and not frozen. I used to come here every day for a pasty and a sausage roll made with sausate meat from Rob Hodder, the butcher next door. Now, the frozen pastries they get from lidl are consistently undercooked and palid. There is no reason to visit. In fact please stay away until they go bankrupt. At least then there is a small chance this former bakery may be bought by someone who will bake. It used to be the best bakery in England, now is makes Greggs look like michelin star cuisine. I travel here most weekends from Taunton for home comforts that remind me of my mums cooking. The ladies here are always welcoming and happy. Theres a vibe as soon as you step in the door if they aren't already smiling (I've caught them doin this whilst silent and looking down at what they're doing 🤭) they definitely pick you up in spirit. I've had two loaves of bread from here and i won't be chancing a third. The first one must have been cut while it was still warm meaning it had been squashed to the point that most of the slices were barely an inch wide in the middle (not an exaggeration) the second loaf, despite asking for thick slice, has been cut so thin your finger goes through it just picking it up.
