Crakeside Fish & Chips — Restaurant in England

I'm writing this review almost a year after actually coming here (we went here twice over a one week holiday in the area). The simple fact that I'm still thinking about this place hopefully tells it's own story, but to cut to the bottom line, this place has to be one of the best fish and chip shops in the country. Affordable, cracking portions and absolutely fantastic food. We tried the classic fish and chips as well as a deep fried black pudding and chips - both were way beyond your standard chip shop quality. The chips had that marvellous beef dripping flavour and the portions and service were, likewise, faultless. If we are ever in the area again, we will be making a visit here, that's for sure. Great chip shop, wish we had more like it down south, and here's hoping it survives and thrives for a long...

Food is fine, good in fact! We've been a few times and it's a great location when traveling home from lakes/hill walking. The problem we had today was that we ordered our food, but because the 1 year old was tired, decided to bring the food home to eat. Baby fell asleep in the car, all good. Get home (15 minutes drive from the shop) open the bags to find that our halloumi fries had been forgotten!! Tried to call the shop, but absolutely nowhere online could I find their telephone number! No easy way to message them, email, call, Facebook etc. I didn't want to write a review, but this is literally the only way I can communicate with the shop! So now I'm owed either a portion of halloumi fries, or my money back. And sadly I can't see myself getting either, unless the owner sees this and messages me!!...

Tourist prices but great fish and chips. I have visited this place a few times. It has a very small serving area so it's a Single file queue, if your visiting in a car you can wait in the car or outside until you are notified that your order is ready via an electronic order tag. The facility has a number of picknic benches outside (note there is a Wine shop next door if you need supplies) The food, this is the real star. Great fresh cooked chips and fish. Chips are done correctly and not pale and soggy like a Lot of places and on each occation that I have been the food hasn't been fried rancid oil like so many places. The peas are lovely, good colour, mushy but still with a little substance and gently seasoned with white pepper. If your in tbe area this is a good place to...
