After we went for a nice walk we took our two Little dogs there to get a drink and some food. The dogs slept in front of the fire but just as the food was arriving we were busy moving our chairs around when one of the dogs picked up the small plastic wedge from under the table leg and started playing with it. The landlord noticed that she had taken it whilst we sat down and proceeded to give me the most incredible loud angry verbal abuse on how I need to keep my dogs under control. After the meal I went to the bar to pay and complained to the landlady about her husbands attitude, her response was to throw my hat (that was on the bar) on to the floor and call me a 'bi*ch to my face. She then grasped at the card reader knocking it out of my hand onto the floor. She then told me that I had to pay for the reader and refused to give me my card back. When I told her to call the police I listened in shock as she told them that I had thrown the reader on the floor and been abusive to her. I left without my card. When I got home I rang the bank to find out that they had not just taken the money for the food but had used my card illegally to take out two more amounts without my permission. I am dealing with this through the police but I would strongly recommend that the landlord and landlady get CCTV fitted in the pub to protcet the poor hapless souls who happen to walk into this...

Thank you all at Craven Heifer for such an unforgettable weekend last month ... My hubby and I arrived from Manchester to be met with such a lovely friendly landlady who showed us to our room ... Oh my gosh ! Our room was beautiful .... made us feel at home ( it was spotless .. we felt so relaxed after our long journey ) with an ensuite and breathtaking views of the village and hills .. we enjoyed a scrumptious dinner ... where we felt l delighted to find ingredients are locally sourced .. we then enjoyed a nice relaxing evening in their beer garden by a lovely little river with the view of a little bridge and it's village ( little birds came to say hello ) .... the following morning after our lovely breakfast we enjoyed a walk up the hills to find a stunning waterfall , breath taking scenery and caves!! ... We arrived back to the Craven Heifer happily tired, thirsty and hungry to be met with lovely staff asking us all about our day ... We had no words to express our amazing day .. until we tried their drink Paradise 😄 .. thank you all at Craven Heifer for a piece of paradise .. we will definitely...

This place was round the corner from our cottage stay. Recommendations say make a booking for a table. We did for 7.30 Saturday evening, not busy. Good, not so. Our meal took nearly a hour coming. Although the meals were really quite good, not really good. We tried a couple of days later to see if we'd just been unlucky. 7pm booked on a Wednesday. Arrived 5 minutes early ,got drinks and sat at allotted table, 10 minutes later we ordered meal. Now there was a table of 7 people had ordered just prior to us. 1 young man was lucky, his pizza came out within about 20 minutes, then 1 by 1 their meals came out at maybe 5 to 10 minute intervals, never together. Unfortunately the last one a young lady hadn't received her pizza and all of her co diners had all finished their meals. It came after the waiter was told she'd not eaten. It was after watching all of this happen that we eventually got our meals. Still only quite good. I think it goes without saying that this place needs to sharpen its act. Really the only thing good were the young ladies serving and...

Amazing pub in fact the best I’ve been to in a long while. Beautiful location and equally as beautiful inside. Lovely beer garden overlooking Stainforth Beck. The sound of the fast running water is amazing. Great selection of quality ale, the decor as full of character and charm and the landlord is very pleasant and friendly. I will be returning to try the food. Beef dripping fish and chips served here and it sound delicious. Very much looking forward to going back to try it. All in all it’s a brilliant pub.

We visited this pub as we were staying at the Knights Stainforth campsite... it’s less than a ten minute walk away and so glad we booked! After our 12 mile walk the beers on the terrace in the sunshine were perfect... we ate in the bar area, good choice of food and drinks... really friendly staff and a hearty meal enjoyed by all. Would certainly recommend!!

We went for a Mother's day walk and decided to have lunch at the Craven Heifer at Stainforth mainly due to location but also timing. The food felt as if it was home cooked and very tasty, the roast beef was melt in your mouth and the sprouts and carrots were to die for. A lovely family meal had by all. The staff were also very friendly.
