Extremely disappointing. It seems to be a common emotion amongst diners, especially reviews on Facebook. Long waits when no one else in the restaurant, wrong orders given, lack of flavour, disgusting, extortionate. Unfortunately, when I went, I experienced all of this.

Edit to the owners response: Not that I should have to justify myself, but last time I checked, I'm certain that you're allowed to go on holiday over the course of the past few months and then review when you have some free moments, whether it's on the same day or not.

I personally do not think that this means I should be unprofessionally called a fake. Seem to want to give yourself a bad name for your customer service, which you already have by the way.

Unfortunately, all that you have to do is look at the "Restaurant and Takeaway Reviews in Cumbria" Facebook page to see that other people have complained about the same thing with Crofters. In fact, you just have to look at the Google and Trip Advisor reviews to find the exact same things.

Seems quite funny to me that you've decided to ONLY reply to my bad review out of everyone, just because you're jealous that I do,...

Visited for a family member's birthday and was unimpressed from the moment we walked in. Before even being shown to our table we were asked how we'd be paying and told as we were a group of 9 to queue and pay separately for our drinks at the bar. With it being a sunny evening the queue for the bar was long so we didn't feel like we wanted to leave our food to queue. We arrived at 5pm and didn't receive any food until quarter past 6, despite having 3 (incredibly well-behaved) toddlers with us who were waiting patiently. The food was not good quality, with the chips in particular being very tough and chewy with no potato in. A table of 2 opposite could also be heard complaining about the chips and had meals taken off the bill, having already been told twice their chosen items were no longer available and having to reorder. The proprietor came through to clear plates and said she'd been let down by her chef, so the kitchen were having problems. Had we been notified of this before sitting down we may have rethought ordering here. Would give the benefit of the doubt and return here, but they did not leave a great...

Went for a meal tonight for a family members birthday, first issue was the menus being different, scribbled all over with different prices for items on different menus, super confusing. Ordered a starter and a main, was then brought my main with no acknowledgement of my starter that I ordered. They had a steak basket on their special menu that included steak, cheese and chorizo, there were many mistakes across the board with this dish as noone was served cheese and chorizo, just a tiny steak and chips. Between the mistakes across the dishes the food was subpar, greasy dishes with cold chips... the birthday boy at the table was that special he got his food 20 minutes after everyone else did! Won't be returning sadly, the door was open to the bar, which made dining an unpleasant experience listening to the shouting and bawling next door! Crofters used to be great and it's a great location sadly the restaurant isn't up to scratch anymore! No manager on hand to talk to either just a poor waitress running the place by...

Arrived at Crofters as we booked this for one night as we were visiting South Lakes Zoo and this was only a 15 minute drive away and was greeted by the lovely landlady who could not do enough for us. She directed us to our room HMS trafalgar which was up some metal stairs to the upper level(the rooms are to the left of the pub in a block of there own so only a short walk across). The room itself was beautifully clean and so spacious everything you need plus spare pillows and set out lovely. We went down for tea and the landlady showed us to our table and we ordered the gammon which was delicious. She went above and beyond bringing our drinks to the table and was so friendly and such a happy lady. It was very quiet as we went on a Monday but would highly recommend this lovely place. Would definitely stay again.

Absolute shambles, we booked days before for a meal when we turned up we were shown to a dirty table even though there were lots of clean tables, the dirty glasses were moved but the table wasn't cleaned. We had looked online at the menu before booking but the menus were not available and a basic printed list was on the table which was a really poor selection but we thought let's make the most of it so I went to order, I was then told there was only one chef who was making an afternoon tea! It would be ten minutes and they would come and take my order, it was when I got back to the table I found out the two tables next to us had been waiting 30 minutes and 35 minutes and hadn't even had there order taken. It wasn't even busy we finished our drinks and left.
