We booked a table for 10 people for Sunday dinner. Upon entering, the bar staff asked me if I was OK, and I mentioned having a table booked, she remarked if it was a table for 10, which I replied yes, and from then on, they called me by my first name, nice touch. We were about an hour early so we could have a few drinks before we ate, they couldn't have been any more accommodating. We had a lovely catch-up with friends in a nice and relaxed atmosphere. Silver cutlery was placed on our places with the correct spoons and extra smaller forks for those having starters. The soup of the day was Thai Lentil, which was a nice surprise, very tasty, a lovely texture to the lentils, and a sneaky little heat from the Thai flavours leaving a lovely aftertaste. The prawn cocktail was served as it should be, in a long cocktail glass, and I was informed by my wife that the prawns were lovely and fresh. We had a selection of dishes for mains between us, the presentation was very good, and vegetables were served in separate serving dishes to share. The pork was so tender, and Juicy, just melted in your mouth. The roast potatoes, though, they were superb. Many of our party had dessert and they were all good too. Overall, the staff were extremely tentative and friendly. They couldn't have done enough for us. We will...

Our family of four visited The Crown and Anchor, and I can honestly say it was the best dining experience weâve had in a very long time. From the moment we walked through the door, the hospitality was warm, genuine, and absolutely faultless. We felt welcomed and looked after throughout the entire evening, which made the experience all the more special.
The food itself was simply outstanding. Every dish was cooked to perfectionâpacked with flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. Itâs rare to find a place where everyone around the table is equally delighted, but The Crown and Anchor delivered just that. From starters through to dessert, each course exceeded our expectations.
What really stood out was the attention to detail, both in the food and in the service. The staff struck the perfect balance between being attentive and allowing us to relax and enjoy our meal as a family. It created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made the evening feel effortless and memorable.
We left not only full but genuinely happy, already talking about when we can come back. If youâre looking for exceptional food, flawless hospitality, and a true family-friendly atmosphere, The Crown and Anchor is second to none. Highly...
Read moreCalled in for a drink only on Sunday lunchtime. Wasn't overly impressed as they seemed understaffed at the bar which took a full two minutes to serve me with no one else waiting whilst the barmaid disappeared after coming off the phone, however in fairness she apologised upon her return. Was then told they were fully booked for food [ despite me not asking for a table or indeed food] .A table by the window was easy to find and the real ale I had was fine as was my wife's bottled fruit cider, however upon finishing our drinks and taking the glasses back to the bar I said a polite thank you only to be given a stern glare as we left with no acknowledgement whatsoever for my custom. Not sure I will return in a hurry.Sad as it isn't...
