It was our second visit and we went to celebrate my wife's birthday. We tried their afternoon tea which was delicious but nothing extraordinary. Sandwiches were soft, fresh and delicious , but the Scone was basic. Scone was a bit tough and didn't taste fresh. From my experience I didn't find their afternoon tea much different than M&S or Patisserie Valerie. It's bit overpriced if you compare with other places. Overall service and atmosphere was great. We really enjoyed it and definitely be back again but not for afternoon tea this time.

Attended a class reunion and twenty four of us enjoyed a three course meal in the Victoria room. No complaints from anyone, the food was excellent, and the staff without exception all friendly and accommodating. No long waits for any of the courses. Various bars in the hotel, and not the cheapest of prices but you are paying for a charming location. Do walk around the arboretum, well worth it for the autumn colours.

Such a lovely setting but we were shocked by the standard of the food. Stopped for a drink and snack - over £15 for nachos, which was a sad plate of Doritos with microwaved cheese and dips reminiscent of a kids birthday party. Terrace looked amazing in the sun but there were piles of plates and glasses on every table, clearly hadn’t been cleared in hours and as a result there were wasps everywhere.

I live locally-ish. Tortworth has options for different occasions and I love that. I really should go more often. Last night was dinner with an ex colleague. We’re foodies and want to enjoy what we are eating whilst we gossip. We arrived early, straight from work and first to be seated. We had a perfect window seat looking over the garden and those enjoying their summer drinks in the sun. Joseph/Joe was our server, who was young, helpful and very sweet. Attentive but not overbearing. Great recommendations and insights on what other guests thought of options. Pink Prosecco to celebrate a new job with some olives and artisan bread. Yum! I think my friend had pan fried cod on risotto but I can’t be too sure because I was lost in my grilled halloumi on giant couscous! Really hearty and light at the same time. We had a classic tiramisu but it was dressed with little biscotti, tiny pieces of meringue and fruit, that made it just a little bit different. Nice touch. We finished off in the bar next door with Paloma and a Mojito.

Perfect evening, thanks Tortworth!

Ps my condolences for Lady Grey she...

Group of 10 for food in Resturant and I have to say it was a cluster of errors. Firstly the service was absolutely awful and took close to 40 minutes just for drink to arrive and then a further 10-15 minutes for someone to take our order.

The food, not worth it at all. The pizzas were absolutely awful and looked like they were pre-packed/frozen and then put into the pizza oven. Plastic disgusting pizza, you’ve got 2 amazing stone pizza oven but do not serve stone baked pizzas just makes absolutely no sense to me.

Salmon salad super dry and very little taste but by far the worst was the so called spinach and ricotta tortellini which actually had no spinach in it at all. It does seem that potentially they had run out and went to Tesco to buy some four cheese tortellini with tinned chopped tomatoes instead which at the price of £19 is ridiculous. The only semi decent meal from our table was the goats cheese salad which lets me honest you cannot get that wrong.

Overall, extremely pour experience and I would not recommend or return. The team need to change the menu and actually buy fresh and...

A little shocked at our dinner experience here. Hubby ordered a steak, they asked which sauce he wanted. He chose one and they charged $3.50 for it. We have never, ever paid for steak sauce before and we travel alot! I had lamb. It was VERY pink in the middle. (I cant honestly say that it was raw as I dont know for sure but it was very close to raw center) then we went to order dessert and mentioned that we were full already but were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. After we ordered and dessert came, the waitress asked if she can send a special celebration dessert with us. Ummmm, why didnt we get that offer BEFORE we ordered dessert? Then to top it off, we got a 10% service charge onto our total yet. Never had that happen here in England before either. We typically tip 20% to 25% but decided with all the strange glitches at such a classy place, 10% was more than plenty. It was a disappointment to our special...
