Diner 51 — Restaurant in England

2 stars for food given for yesterday's visit ONLY...having eaten there on a number of occasions and been very pleased with the food. I saw some bacon on a plate (along with other items) that was being served up for another customer and asked for a bacon roll and could I please have it done like the bacon on that plate. The chef overheard and he said that the bacon comes from the same place so it will be the same bacon. I politely clarified that I don't like it 'well done' but the one already served looked perfect and could I have it like that. He didn't seem impressed but the lady serving me (very friendly) said, "yes, no problem". However, when it arrived approximately 3 mins later I found I'd been given the 3 most horrible looking pieces of bacon and it was cold. I took it back and politely asked the chef if he could heat bacon slices as they were cold. He took the plate without a word. (He'd just had a customer demand his money back because he had an issue with the steak pie dinner he'd purchased. He took umbrage with (a) the size of the portion and (b) the fact that he'd been charged £9 and expected a decent steak pie not a small 'Pukka Pie'.) Some minutes later he returned with the plate and I found that instead of heating the bacon slices, he'd put the whole thing into the microwave meaning I now had a piping hot bun and bacon. I didn't complain further (once worked in a hotel kitchen and know what can happen to food belonging to customers who complain!) so I ate it and left. I have eaten there before and the food and the service have been very good but yesterday's experience was not. I used to come here now and then, as a truck driver it's not always possible to stop for food at the same place all the time. I had a loyalty card with stamps on it. I only stop here for the delicious full English breakfast I always had, but today the person who served apart of being very unprofessional and not very polite towards a costumer, she didn't want to stamp my card , and she offered me to start another card from the beginning, I refused of course. Don't know why she did it but I guess she had a very consistent reason for doing so. So people ..be aware with their loyalty card scheme. Well first time coming here, and will probably be the last the staff where alright, the atmosphere was dull, but the food well I ordered steak pie chips beans and gravy and a Pepsi well for starts the Pepsi was £1.70 by its self which is ridiculous price you can buy a full create of 24 for £7, and 9.40 for the dinner was over priced aswell, the chips and pie was definitely frozen ones used, and the gravy that was like water, I really thought I'd give this place a go really wish I hadn't bothered and just gone to the subway in the garage, but the staff was...
